well, you still have one half to go...but I think it mainly comes down to attitude and such.

And yes, Hiddink is REALLY missed.

true that, from the master to the masters aide,Hiddink is a general

current gaffer graham arnold is still an apprentice coach,no authority as he didnt prove shit in his career both as a player and a manager, the players arent fussed over his instructions
i cant prove that but i just believe that

and by no means am i making excuses,we are getting smashed

Ziyad,i do believe the aussies are affected by the heat but so is Oman
we are taking this game like we are the world champs, prima donna stuff

id rather fighters who lack flair, than artist who lack pride and at the moment the aussies are playing like women, full stop

if this show continues il walk away fro aussie football for good,

weather shouldn't be an excuse really...Oman isn't used to the humidity either.

game ends 1-1...just like 3 years ago, Oman conceed a late unlucky goal against a title favourite..

but still, very good display by them...and Aussies need to step up a bit.

I'm very disappointed with the final result. Undeserved draw for Australia but that's how football. Oman wasted chance after chance and they were punished at the end.

For years the Omani team was improving and today they just confirmed that they're no pushovers. They still lack top tournaments experience and it cost them darely today.

the weather was a handicap for both teams,i dont personally think Oman was better prepared for the weather conditions as the australian football league is played in summer and it gets very hot in australia aswell

in the end a lucky result somewhat, and agreed we have to step it up

judging from the lineup,Arnold is clearly forcing some players most notebly kisnorbo and wilkeshire, will this hurt us i dont know,

and kudos to cahill, the tempe high school boy:proud: ,our saviour once again

Good result for Oman, they are surely improving. For years they were a VERY bad team, but as of late they are playing well, but they seem not to have a killer touch in games.

Mehdi, Shalhoub was slightly injured and so was Muntashri. I don't think the injuries were THAT serious, but the coach still chose not to take them.

As for Noor, let's put this way, he has many enemies in the FA because of where he plays and to a lesser extent his character. He was banned for about 8 months last year because they accused him of forging his contract, eventhough his own team found him innocent!

And he certainly doesn't help his cause. Last year he spat and punched one player from an opposing team, and two years ago he had a bad game, he was booed by his own teams' fans and jumped to the stands and started kicking them. Also he verbally attacked a journalist (most jouralists there are amateur a-holes, but you still don't call their mom names in front of everyone.)

But the funniest thing was when he was driving one time, and two fans of Hilal mocked him and threw stuff at his car. He got off, and beat the crap out of them both :D

So, he isn't the only one that had bad tempers, but if you play with a team from Jeddah, you have to be extra cautious because you already have a disadvantage.

benny...I believe everything you say, even when you tell me the sky is red and roses are blue.. ;)

but really...that's absolutely great and I'm personally a big fan of Cahill.

Thanks for the info on Nour Hamed...as said, it should be very interesting to see how Saudi's do in Asian Cup. I personally would prefer to play Korea over Saudi Arabia in quarter finals. Somehow Iran gets too emotional when we play Arab teams and they somehow manage to lose it big time.

Emirates lost with 2-0 to Vietnam...they should be out.

First of all its much hotter and more humid in Oman than it is in the European leagues that the Australian players play.

Second Oman wasted soo many chances i swear i knew it would bite them back in the behind. This is always the case with Oman they play great football but dont know how to execute and finish the games. Whether they top this group or not depends on them learning from that experience fast.

I think they will outclass both Iraq and Thailand, but how far they will go in this tournament only god knows.

I have never been to Oman, but I am sure it's less humid and hot than some Australian cities.

BTW, the official Asian cup site is horrible, they still don't show the scores of both games today.

And what a disappointing result for UAE, all this hype after the gulf cup and now they disappoint.

the official Asian Cup site is one of the slowest of mankind..

I tried to get some info on Saudi's team and it took ages to load. Incredible..

UAE...well, I kind of expected it. From all the host teams, Vietnam is the only half decent one and UAE was too much hype.

The scoreline of the UAE game would've been different. The referee denied them a clear penalty and a sending off to the last Vietnamese defender with the score at 1-0.

Nevertheless, I think the Vietnamese team deserved its win because the UAE played so cowardly today. They only fielded one out-in-out striker which by the way missed quite a few clear setters.

Ziyad, i was refering to the "national australian league"which is played in the spring/summer in Australia, the weather average is way over 30 degrees C,and its very very humid,

the reason why i said that is that this current squad has many players from the national league, unlike the world cup squad

to be more honest today:AUSTRALIA WAS VERY VERY LUCKY,OUTCLASSED ,OUTPLAYED,

last nites performance was crap,no doubts and things will change, write the aussies off at your own peril if you wish lads:hush: :hush:

next game we are going to be bad:patch: :skull:  :irritate:

I still think alot of the credit should go to the Omani's for how the Aussies played..

Now its Japan and Qatar...I am rooting for the underdogs ofcourse.
