I seriously don't understand this move tbh. He's too young to give up on, at 20 he still has at LEAST another 2 years to develop into a respectable player. Seriously, what are these extra 6 million going to do for us? Nothing.

Mixed feelings for me. Santon has been playing like shit since that Sampdoria game(Pazzini scored for them:pazzini:) and the whole treble winning season was hard for him injury wise.

I still believe he could end up being pretty good so I would prefer loaning him again. I even believe Newcastle would not mind that.

But Santon must work on his game, apart from the obvious problems with his defensive side of the game the biggest problem of his game is a total lack of end product. Just look at Faraoni, that's the thing that separates them so Faraoni is far, far ahead for the wing back positions atm.

Just One Day After We Got Poli, We Sold Santon

I Can't Argue Santon form now is like a shit, but come on he is still young still 20 years old.
FUCK I trully disappointed with our management. We sold our homegrown product, but Still keep deadweight like Muntari, Rivas, Chivu, etc

Damn... I was hopeing it wouldnt come to this but as Stefan said, he didn't make the most of his chances. Inter Management obviously lost there Faith in him as they did with Bonucci before him... He didn't turn out to be anything special either.

Lmao at the people saying Santon didn't make the most of his chances. Some of the very same people defending Ranocchia when Santon is even younger :palm: Completely unnecessary, we should have kept him.

This one is all about Faraoni IMO. Only need one young project at that position and Faraoni looks more promising at this point.

This shit is hilarious....

When did barely playing for the Spanish U21 team make you more expensive than the guy who is the captain of the Italian U21 team and has 6 caps with the senior national team?

Wtf is with this BS DM's are more expensive than FBs argument? Yea, because the world is really lacking in good DMs atm

When did barely playing for your club team make you more expensive than a guy who has played for his club team quite regularly the last few years?

And hilarious that you bring up "Santon has had ample oppurtunities to prove himself" argument. WTF has Oriol proved that makes hima better player and worth more? Because he played for the 'glorious' Barca?

Heights of delusional....

Santon has hardly done anything to deserve a spot in the starting line up or even in the squad but I still had hopes from him. :(

Santon is only 20 and he could have still improved. So, I think he should had been given more chances?? (loan atleast). I just hope it won't be another Pirlo and bla bla. Wow, only few seasons back, we had the two upcoming Italian talents in Balotelli-Santon and seems we have lost both of them now. :(

I thought Santon had a good game against Chievo, there is no reason we should have sold him. Santon and Faraoni should've been our LB and RB respectively for the future, there should be no reason to sell him, a loan at most, its also terrible considering Maicon has atmost 3 more years at a top level...this is terrible news. Worse than Forlan because we have lost a prospect.

Atleast we still have Felice right? He's just out on loan?

Too be fair, I am kind of a Santon fanboy :p

Was amazed by him when he made Crynaldo his bitch...

Altho i rate Abate more, I still think Santon has what it takes to become a good FB. He would have actually improved a lot at Milan as we have a coach that emphasizes a lot on defense and our assistant coach was part of one of the greatest backlines of all time. If Abate who was completely hopeless can improve so much, I am sure Santon would have done the same considering he has already shown he has talent.

Santon - Abate duo would have been a joy to watch

But then again, it would have been every Interista's nightmare

When he's fit with Mou, he's 8055.

Firstly injured and no confidence with coaches that can't defend, poor.

Coincidence?

I think the biggest reason why he flopped last reason was because he had no consistency. I have lost count the number of times Rafa fucked around with his position and I dont see how anyone could improve themselves when they are asked to play in a different position every single games. Also injuries also played a part in his poor performances...

The other reason why I think he flopped maybe due to him becoming overconfident. I am not sure if this true so I am not gonna delve into it further....

I think what Inter needed to do was get him some one on one training. When Allegri became coach, he paired Abate with Tassoti (our ex RB) and made him mentor him. Tassoti worked with Abate to improve his defensive skills and his positioning. Allegri also constantly gave instructions to him during the game and I think everyone knows what a vast improvement he made. I mean, this is the guy who only last year Milan fans were desperate to get rid off, and now he has become one of the untouchables in the squad. What's there to say that Santon could'nt have done the same if Inter had tried the same approach with him?

I honestly think Santon would have realized his potential if Mourinho was still coach....

I still dont think we should have sold him, still 20 years old, a player that covers 4 positions (RB-LB-RM-LM), its just to early for us to give up like this, its a shame but he should do whatever he thinks is right for him.
