All through out his coaching career, Gian Piero has used the 3-4-3.. So the management is who to blame for hiring him, knowing full well that we weren't suited..
True that – I too believe that to some extent our management is to blame. Yet, despite whatever objectives you as a club might have during a transfer window not always things go as planned. Seemingly that was the case during this window where we as a club were keener on cashing in on Wesley rather than Eto’o. We know how that mission ended.

Here we are now, and what one would expect of an intelligent coach is to act less stubborn and to be prepared to tweak his system so that it suits the players at his disposal. He needs to adapt to our current situation and not think of whom we may acquire in January or next summer because he may not be there to witness those changes!

Ranieri and Zola up for Inter job?
Thursday 15 September, 2011

The Italian media is already drawing up lists for Gian Piero Gasperini’s replacement on the Inter bench, including Claudio Ranieri and Gianfranco Zola.

This morning President Massimo Moratti assured “do not expect a change of management,” but the newspapers are doing precisely that after three defeats in as many official games.

Fabio Capello is potentially ear-marked for next season, as he is in the England job until after Euro 2012.

As for Coaches who can come in during the current campaign if things do not improve, Ranieri is a strong contender.

Currently out of contract following his Roma dismissal last year, the former Chelsea and Juventus manager would bring a practicality and defensive solidity appreciated by Moratti.

On the other hand, Zola could be given the position and his first club management role in Italy.

Ex-West Ham boss Zola had worked as co-Coach with Pierluigi Casiraghi in the Italy Under-21 side some years ago.

“Inter? We are talking about an abstract possibility, especially as I don’t think Gasperini is going to be sacked,” Zola’s agent Fulvio Marrucco told Il Sussidiario.

“Who wouldn’t be happy to come to Inter? But I want to clarify that there has not been any contact with the club or Moratti, not now or in the summer when Leonardo left the Nerazzurri.”

Another alternative is Delio Rossi, who took Palermo to the Coppa Italia Final last season, and Roberto Donadoni, who was sacked by Cagliari a month before the campaign kicked off.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It goes without saying that Inter are in a spot of bother when the club is being linked to the likes of Ranieri, Zola and Donadoni as possible replacements for Gasperini.

At this point in time, that scenario looks as though it will only remain a dream. I'm curious to see if Inter will lose to Roma at the weekend.

Honestly, I don't even think it's Gasp... not entirely anyways. There's been a certain malaise and indifference about this club, from Moratti to the janitor at Appiano Gentile, since the treble. Moratti (for reasons of FFP or simply not wanting to spend anymore) hasn't brought in talented players to replace the old guard. I hate being critical of a guy who loves Inter with a passion but I get the feeling he has a 'mission accomplished' vibe since the treble.

Unfortunately, this is spot on. The treble was won by a very good, yet aging team. Moratti's decision to implement the FFP rules with immediate effect was maybe reasonable from financial point of view, but it was devastating for the team from footballing point of view. In addition, the entire Benitez saga was handled very clumsy by the club, leaving us in position where most top coaches wouldn't even consider working at Inter, once it became obvious that serious financial limitations and interference from the board are in full effect.

GASP HANGING ON A THREAD

After three losses, it's crisis Inter. Tomorrow at San Siro against Roma.
Moratti: "We only need to wait for that moment." In case of a change, there's also Figo other than Ranieri and Rossi.

GASP, YOU'RE AT THE CROSSROADS

Moratti is asking for a turning point. Serious trouble if tomorrow's match goes wrong.
Yesterday, the president did not sweep away all doubts: "For now, only waiting for a moment."
But if the team loses to Roma...

Milan - The big problem is that there is not one single problem. And after two months, Gasperini is working to turn things about in these two days. "I think that, right now, we only need to wait for that one moment," said Massimo Moratti the morning after the Turkish bath. A sentence that suggest a decision in the making. The decision. Because while it is true that "talking of a decisive game means that the team and coach have done a bad job," said Moratti but it is also true that another defeat against Roma would equal to a meteor on the future of Gasperini. Each player has defined the game against Roma as one for the lifetime. Not only that, the game is also practically decisive because Gasp is a coach in balance.

Two months of... nothing? The presidential messages are not topical but back in August: after the loss against Chievo, Moratti gave indications that Pazzini should be a starter, Sneijder behind the strikers and the defense that "now it is better with four." The fact is that for two months, though without the full team, Gasperini has been working on a three-man defense but did not have the men to do it. In the summer, the team was also looking for a central defender fro the defense of three but he did not arrive. And when Moratti, after Palermo, suggested that a change defensively was needed. Let be clear, it is not that with a defense of four you'll win and you'll lose with three. It is a question of the type of players that Gasp has. Gasp is now starting to reposition by cancelling the work in the past two months.

Appeal So Gasp had to change: first at Palermo and then with Trabzonspor. Two games, three distortions. Sneijder came on for Zarate at the Barbera just after 30 minutes; defense of 4 and Wes just behind the strikers against Trabzonspor after 10 minutes. These indications prove that his ideas are fragile for this team. It is for this reason that his position is in the balance because he doesn't have the grip on the team. The connection between him and the players must be born again straight away, immediately like tomorrow evening. Being hanging on a thread, Gasp did say that "this defeat will give a strong reaction to this team." He believes but more especially, hopes just like Moratti. But should another defeat came against Roma, it is time for Moratti to think. Is it bad? Really bad? Deserving or undeserving? Bad luck or serious faults? Gasp is still at a crossroads.

Up to the team So you have to wait. And Massimo Moratti: "I think, right now, we just need to wait for that moment because we have changed our formation. Is the defense better with at four? Yes, definitely." Gasp has made the change to 4-3-1-2 and now it is up to the deal. The Inter on the field right now are not the true Inter.

I didn't want him right from the start, but I don't want to sack him after only three games, if it is up to me I'd wait until winter break.

I guess I'm just starting to feel sorry for GPG now, I really didn't expect him to lose all three games and against Trabsdfjosdfk (no disrespect).

Fucking Ranieri? No way. There's no way we should approach him for the job considering the past rivalries. And if he had any dignity he wouldn't accept a role even if offered.

Figo?.. I'd rather not. He's fine as an ambassador.

IF we have to sack GPG, which I dont want to as of now, we need to go with someone who motivates the team. Tactically speaking not much has to be done, there is only 1-2 ways our team can be setup with the players we have, so we need someone who can send the players onto the pitch with their adrenalin pumping. I have a little more faith in Gasp(offcourse its fading) but I think he can turn this around. Not because he's done it at a big club in the past, but because he is not afraid to make changes, his subs were correct in the CL game and he's shown his desire to stay on as coach by throwing his formation of years out of the window.

I'm so sick from all of those mediocre names concerning our coaching position since Mourinho left.

What is the point of sacking a mediocre coach and replacing him with young-never coached before or another proven medicore coach?

That doesn't mean you have to hire a mediocre coach to complete the package, quite the contrary. A quality coach can compesate some of the flaws.

But the problem is that people running the club are detached from reality.

In that reality we have a mediocre team+mediocre coach not being able to compensate that

Moratti, Branca and co. on the other hand believe we have a good team+a coach who is good enough not blow it up

There was hardly any quality coach available to join us, who's actually willing to join us. And of course, we couldn't afford to pay 15mil for a coach as well.

This became evidently conspicuous to Branca after his holiday tour trip to Portugal, and we settled with Gasperini.
