It's true and iirc it has been reported by others as well.

Atalanta wants 35m, we offered 25m. They're going to close the deal today, both parties want to see this done.
Hat trick.

Did I miss some stinker of a performance from DiMarco as wingback?
No he’s always been fine there, I just don’t think Inzaghi likes him athletically for that position. He’s not dynamic.

Atalanta's been very generous with us if they accept a loan with option/obligation to buy Gosens for 25m. Not sure if it's a good sign or a bad sign.

Isnt he on his last 18 months of his contract?

Preparing for Perisic departure is all well and good, but that's quite the luxury when we're about to go to play Liverpool with Gags in the lineup and our entire strike force has been crap for months aside from Sanchez who is just about due for his next international break injury. I guess we'll see what the figures wind up being.

What happens if another striker gets injured? What happens if any of our 3 center backs get injured? What happens if any of our 3 starting mids get injured? Our backups are underwhelming across the board. And then of course there's the fact that Gosens is already injured.

Dimarco/Darmian filing in at lwb for a while is far less of a concern to me than than Gags/Vecino/30 minutes of Vidal in midfield. Or relying on elderly Dzeko/Sanchez to stay healthy.
I agree we need a midfielder badly. I think our depth there is where it's the worst. However, the more I think about it, and given the options, this is a smart move. For next season and for now. We're potentially solving two issues with squad depth this season in the one hit.

He is. He's also one of the best WBs in the world and the reports say Atalanta wants 35m for him and Inter offers 25m, but they are coming to an agreement. A bit strange how quick they accepted to lower their demand by 10m for one of their best players joining a direct rival in the league.

Well I personally think Perisic is a dog shit striker, so I'm not sure how much we're solving that side of the equation but maybe in this system they can make it work, who knows. I don't have an issue with signing Gosens at all, it's more about priorities as we know how cheap/broke we are, so I'm curious what signing him means for our chase of Frattesi, Scamacca (who I'm not even really a fan of), etc.

If, and I say if, Gosens really comes, we have fixed our left flank with a Panzer.
He's massive, serious professional player, tell me a better solution in that position, for €25M.

Haha fair enough on Perisic. Agree that Frattesi in particular is a must at some point.

Problem with the midfield is that we have the quantity.

Vidal, Vecino, Gagliardini, Sensi... on top we have the starters Barella, Brozovic, Hakan. That's 7 players already for 3 spots.

Vidal and Vecino are expiring, we're trying to send Sensi away, we're renewing Brozovic soon.

The money saved by Vecino is going to Brozovic, the money saved from Vidal cannot really be used now apart from someone on a loan, but that means someone has to take Vidal now. Sensi doesn't earn that much and cannot command a fee to use.

Hands are tied for a new central midfielder. On the other hand, Kolarov retiring and Dimarco moving as Bastoni's backup means we need a WBL. Perisic leaving means this new player gets to be the new starter from 2022-23. It all boils down to that. Correa being injured also adds a necessity to chase a backup striker.

Yeah, I definitely see both sides of the coin. If I think of it from the point of view of "management" and what is realistic, can be done, and benefits the team now and in the future, this move looks logical.

Might I add, that's whether it's Gosens or Kostic, or whoever will play there.

I have Eriksen transfer "vibez", even if it's not exactly the same situation. But the thing that reminds me of the situation: A really good player, but at the same time not really what you need, which sounds ridiciolous because i would never say no to a player like Eriksen or Gosens. The difference anyway, is that Eriksen came here to play a role he never played before. The problematic with Gosens is not the role but the injuries he had. And we probably need more a good striker and a decent midfielder, then a LWB.

In my oppinion: As 2 years ago with Chris, i think we can't say no, he is a great player. Specialy with Perisic leaving in June.
Of course it could be wrong thinking this way but truth is that Inter hasn't much options. 1. Because we are not Real Madrid, 2. beacuse we basically have no money. It's important to use this opportunities, Marotta knows that. If you don't have the power to get proven "stars", you don't have much options. Like we did with Sanchez or even Lukaku that was probably one of the worst EPL strikers after he leaved Everton. I think Gosens is starting to get one of this players because of the unjury he had. Atalanta is considering to sell him before he lose Value, while Inter belives in he's quality and it's the right thing to do.

So a big yes for me. If he can stay injury free, he will be one of the best players in the league like he was last season.

Any idea when Gosens is likely to be fit? It should have been sometime about now...

He was supposed to be match fit by now, but it seems his recovery has hit a setback.

Not that I think we're sacking Inzaghi or anything, but this move does signal that we're committed to playing a 3-5-2 for several more years.
