Also I think we build out of the back quite well and it showed tonight tbh. It's a general criticism of Italian clubs that they all build from the back and get punished for it in Europe but I don't think I've seen any Italian club to it better than Inzaghi's Inter.

I did see the difference.

It was called Perisic over Young and Eriksen over Gagliardini.

And it wasn't exactly a strike of genius from Conte, everyone was calling for it all season long.

Not to mention that we only finally started playing good under Conte after 18 months, despite the fact all the money we spent and basically gave him everything he wanted, Inzaghi got Correa after losing Lukaku and Hakimi.

And people criticizing Inzaghi are ridiculous, no one was predicting we would win or even compete the Scudetto at the start of the season, hell plenty of people thought CL spot was at risk.

At the start of the season if you told anyone that we would go out in CL against Liverpool by a score of 2-1 while winning on Andield after playing with 10 men for 30 minutes they would put you in an asylum.

The correct time to judge Inzaghi is next season if we have a decent mercato.

positive thing is that in 4 days we've transformed from the team without a win in the last 5 matches with 4 matches without the goal to a team with 4 matches without a loss and without conceding a goal while playing against Liverpool and Milan.

His setup was great, where was Mane? Jota? Only corners and free kicks caused us trouble. And they cause it to every fkn team, City, Psg or Madrid. We totally neutralise them. Salah showed up second half and make our life worse when we were already tired and playing with 10 men. Inzaghi did his job really good, if we had Barella there or any other decent midfielder instead fkn Gags or Vecino we would be celebrating today. In two games against Liverpool were for most time al pari with them. I will criticize him if he fucks up against Torino or Fiore but not now, no fkn way, he deserves kudos, and all the team. They gave everything, they were warriors, not pussies and if we lose like that who the fuck am I to criticize. Hope this bring us up not down like after that first leg, we have three tough game now, if we take 7 points in these 3 games that will be fkn great. Lets go!

I can't believe he just beat Liverpool in a knock out CL game at anfield, with d'ambrosio, Vecino, gagliardini, vidal and darmian. That's incredible, have to give it to him.

Growth is clear. If we had have had barella, gosens and correa fit for both legs, who knows what happens. Our depth killed us in the first leg, the red card last night.

But again, growth is clear. Bravo Simone

Inzaghi is doing great job so far, but I cannot get rid of the nasty feeling that he'll choke badly at the end for the scudetto race. The following scenario comes up in my mind: just before the last round Inter is first, 3 points ahead of everyone. Then we have a great first half against Samp. Scoring a goal, creating a couple of good chances and totally dominating them. Start a second half in a slow motion, then he introduces 5g, Vecino and some another chocker around 60 min. Around 70 min, Samp equilizing with their first opportunity in the game and in the last minutes, Candreva, Gabbiadini or some other loser scores a late winner.
Milan, Napoli or jube win their match of course and get the title.

i agree with Brehme and Bubba on the Inzaghi's substitution and tactic. it looks cowardice but it's realistic. letting Dzeko and Gosens play is a huge gamble. we might have chance to score another goals but that is a giant IF. well, i could also apply the same logic by playing Vecino. i will gamble that Vecino can score us another goal. it's not unprecedented thing as Vecino sometimes surprises peoaple with his sudden goal. but, that is also a giant IF. therefore, i wont be dissapointed with the result. Inzaghi does the best he can with the available and current quality of the squad in both legs. the glass is half full for me.

good match for but one thing is still itching me. We were 1 man down, need a goal, obviously he didn't want to put Dzeko in, why didn't go out of the way, putting Gosens in, instead of Vecino, moving Perisic higher or middle. We need the ball, not a player who pass it right after getting the ball and run straight to opponent's box. He can do that if we have Brozovic and Barella on field.

Because the midfield could get overrun that way and we lose our lead. But if we kept the 1 goal lead we could still find a chance through a dead ball situation or get some fluke goal.

But tbh we basically had close to zero chance to win the tie after Sanchez dismissal. Even if by some miracle we could get a second goal, the match was going to go into the extra time. With 1 man down and the team very exhausted there was a big chance we were going to concede later and lose the tie anyway. So I honestly don't get those who got so worked up about Inzaghi's subs and how the match went after Sanchez dismissal and Brozovic's injury.

I thought Inzaghi was almost flawless last night. I think he got his subs right and I’m actually more confident about him now then I was before the match. In my opinion he showed pragmatism whereas I always thought he was more of a purist.

Sending Dzeko on would have been silly imo, for what? So we could basically play with 9 and open ourselves up to concede? Or get a fluke goal against the run of play and go another 30 minutes with 10 men? There is only one way that ends.

Taking this 1-0 victory and moving on was the smart thing to do. It will mean more for this team, this season, and next season then subbing on another striker for the morale victory. How about the actual victory, I’ll take that in this situation every time.

Comparing him to Conte in Europe... Conte seemed tactically unfit for Europe. I have no qualms with Inzaghi's tactics.

But Idk... we went into that Liverpool tie with the intent to lose, and it harmed us in the league as well. I feel like he's too conservative. You can't just mentally fold before the tie starts just because you're an underdog.

He should definitely continue on as coach, but we have to address the mentality issue, because the same shit happened during the group stages as well. You can't grow without pulling off upsets. I'm not sure this team is capable of pulling off upsets.

Judging on the way we came out in opener and the 2nd half yesterday, I definitely don’t think we approached the tie with the intent of losing… it was always going to take the footballing gods ruling in our favor and it didn’t quite come off.

Did a great job tactically, and got the subs right, save for one. Bringing on Vecino almost cost Inter the match, with that header on the cross late. Fortunately it went wide of the net.

Obviously that kind of numbers are for the case we win the Scudetto. But even then, even then it sounds just way too much. +25% increase, 4m€ -> 5m€ would be reasonable. We still don't know if Inzaghi can carry and hold it together. Juve won't have same kind of season next year so there's one extra competitor for the title. What I mean is what would be the advantage paying him that much? It's not like he's gonna get anywhere near the same numbers from any other club.

He gets a Scudetto next season after Juve is back with their new signings and we can talk about 6m+ figures.
