He played for Ajax so playing from the back is the least of the problems he will be facing imo.
Totally. Even Onana haters would admit he's good with ball on his feet. The doubts are more about concentration and "traditional" GK skills.

Handa should definitely start next season… playing from the back is essential to our game play… Onana gotta get little by little introduced into the starting line up.
Playing from back is Onana's strength. He is brilliant at it.
Question marks are concentration and dealing with crosses.

I came to share the same good news!

Corriere dello Sport: the Slovenian goalkeeper will accept a one-year extension of his contract and he will now earn €2.5 million a season as well as fixed bonuses which is less than his current deal.
He will still remain the number one goalkeeper and the captain of the Nerazzurri but he will be doing battle with Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana who will join the club on a free transfer this summer.

The goalkeeper was offered the deal some weeks ago but had taken a long time to respond, fueling speculation that he will either find a new club or retire.

He is not far away from breaking into the top ten of appearance makers for Inter.
Was expecting this and I`m very happy he stays.

Handanovic has been finished for at least two seasons. Renewing him is an act of bad faith, and the thought that he could still be a starter next season gives me stomach pain.

As a regular Handa hater I say NAY to this post. Thought Handa had a 4/5 season, his third or fourth best season for Inter. Started a bit rusty, but most of the season he kept us alive in many crucial moments and he only had a few games where he looked extremely nervous. Second best gk in Serie A for sure.

Dude needs to retire here. I don't care about those who say he's finished for the past 2 seasons. At this point he's a club icon and he's taking the pay cut. He'll be 38 in a couple of months. Been here for what, 10 years? I remember other clubs in the past asking about him and how most people here including myself would feel sorry that he would never win anything here or a CL so he should just go while he could. But he stayed. That's good news to me. I don't care if he starts or is a backup, but the guy deserves to retire here. You wanna have Radu as your backup again next year? 💀

That’s what preseason is for, he should have a full one and play all the friendlies.

I have bashed him relatively relentlessly over the past 2 years, but I am really glad he's staying for another year while Onana acclimatises.

Like Wera said, he's been in relatively good form this year compared to the last 3/4.
