IT'S NOT OVER - Milan Skriniar further and further away from Inter. The road has now been drawn, with Gleison Bremer ready to take his place. As reiterated by the market expert, the Nerazzurri management would also refuse an offer of 60 million. The French of PSG are not letting go and are ready to relaunch with a superior offer that could arrive in the next few hours.

I agree with Marotta in principle. It is simply harder to replace a great striker like Lautaro than a great defender like Skriniar. But this is purely about on-pitch stuff.

Skriniar is diehard-Interista and it's impossible to replace that in one season.

You can always get 1-2 goals, but what will you do,if you are going leaking in defense like crazy? 🤔

Don't have one.

You could have a good case for that if we had pioli or alegri system, meaning much more defensive oriented, but we are attacking 90% of the time, we kept real madrid on their half majority of the game, attack is our defense, so when we had dry streaks in attack like last year we end up in big trouble.

Hope Lukaku and Dybala help big time.

Our great defense was also easily bypassed by Real's attack.
Difference here is get cheap goals after defense errors or bangers in Madrid case. If I remember correctly of course.

You can just hope that attack going to be more leather next season,if defense going to be weaker.

Edit: Pray for Onana get his act together as well.

There must have a balance, not just to have a great attack or great defense. In our particular case, replacing Skriniar with Bremer doesn't mean that our defense will start to leaking goals like crazy, but adding Dybala and Lukaku to our attack, deffinitely will increase our chances of scoring goals / creating chances.

I mean they want get rid of De Vrij as well,so if Škriniar leave then it’s going to be almost new defense.

We will see what happens in the end.

In principle? There is no principle here, Marotta is simply prepping you mentally for Skriniar's departure.

In principle, it's always the quality and mentality that's hard to replace, not the position. Look at Liverpool, do you think they will find more difficulty replacing Salah than van Dijk? In fact, they have been struggling a lot to find an adequate partner for van Dijk while renewing their attack just fine with Jota, Diaz (and Darwin, but too early to tell).

Maybe Bremer presents a unique opportunity and we're also desperate for cash but let's not kid ourselves thinking a defender is easier to replace than an attacker.

I think Moratta it mean in more economical way probably.

Lautaro cost 25M €.

It doesn't mean we compromise on the defence.

He's simply stating that it is easier to replace a defender with another comparable defender, than it is for an attacker. Think of replacing someone like Dybala or Lukaku, or Chiesa or Vlahovic. No matter how good you think they are, getting another attacker with similar attributes is not easy. But that is not the case for defenders.

Skriniar is great (and I hope we don't sell him). And within defenders, Skriniar would be simpler to replace than a Bastoni, due to the latter's ability to launch the ball forward, or a Koulibaly who has pace to go with strength.

In that sense, if a choice has to be made, Skriniar has to take the fall.

That's not true either, we value Bastoni about the same as the brightest striker prospects out there. We're also demanding 80m for Skriniar while both Lukaku and Dybala are available for cheap.

Defenders are fucking expensive these days like every other positions.

Dybala is free agent so no surprise here and Lukaku had horrendous season.

Than only way how think about it,is really his way saying,we shouldn’t be upset because good defenders are everywhere and cheap. In case of him leavening.

Are we seriously going to sit here and pretend that Lautaro couldn't in any way, shape or form be replaced by someone else? Not even by the two attackers we are most closely linked to in, oh, I dunno, Dybala and Lukaku? I'm not a fan of the former, but the latter is almost guaranteed to give you at least 15 goals in Serie A, and if Marotta doesn't think Dybala has the qualities to replace someone like Lautaro, why is he hell-bent on giving him one of the biggest contracts in the squad?
Not saying there is much truth to the rumos, but 90 million euros would be a daylight robbery for Lautaro "I was very close to joining Barcelona" Martinez.

Skriniar, on the other hand, bleeds black and blue, and most importantly, plays the outer right centerback in our defense. That position is no joke, whilst most defenders are capable of playing in the middle. There's no way of knowing if Bremer (say we buy him) even has the capabiltiies or phyisical characteristics to play in that position. We know D'Ambrosio can deputize, but that is about it.
So what does selling Skriniar amount to? At this minute, if nothing else happens, Bastoni - De Vrij - D'Ambro. Alright, with the way especially De Vrij has been playing, that's a Lazio-worthy defense at best. So you're forced to find alternatives - the logical one would be Bremer, but his price is rising steadily (40 million, probably). As much as I love D'Ambro, he's not good enough to start 38 games. So, you're likely looking at Milenkovic for 15 million, and there's nothing that I've seen from him, that tells me he isn't a major downgrade to Skriniar.

Alright, you've uprooted two-thirds of your defence, sold Skriniar, likely the future captain and locker-room leader who has publicly stated he wants to stay forvever and clearly cherishes playing here for (maybe) 70 million and bought replacements for 55 million euros (that's if you can even buy Bremer). You've earned 15 million, and to get to that 60 million deficit, you need to sell another starter.

"Easier to replace" my ass.
