Paulo Dybala

Imagine you`re in Ausilio/Marotta`s shoes, would you offer Dybala a contract?

  • Yes - unlock defences and add value: creativity, individual brilliance, attacking outside the box

  • No - serious doubts about his fitness and contribution when it matters the most

If we sign Dybala and play 3-4-1-2 no one is outscoring that team.
I think a successful system will always outscore a collection of big name individuals. Frankly, we have no idea how Lukaku is going to perform in Inzaghi's system, even if he worked well with Lautaro in the past. Same goes for Dybala.

The trio can rotate in and out of the lineup with Hakan playing AM as well when Dybala goes up top. This needs to be the goal. I'm normally a massive pessimist but unless we have injury issues that team is by far the favorite to take the league.
I'm not against a 3412 per se, but I have doubts over the ability of Brozovic and Barella to hold the midfield playing as a 2 man tandem. Seems a bit light to me and if I'm not mistaken, neither has much experience outside of a 3 man midfield.

The system just seems defensively flimsy to me. From the very front, neither Dybala nor Lukaku are well-equipped to play a pressing game. I can easily envision Lautaro trying to press and cover for 3 players and exhausting himself as a result. Gosens is not a bad defender but he's no Perisic who was admittedly, unfairly good in terms of defence.

And none of this is even taking into consideration the imminent molesting of our defence. Skriniar being replaced by Milkenkovic, or god forbid Acerbi? Bremer would obviously be a massive upgrade over de Vrij but we don't yet know if our defense will undergo a net improvement or downgrade.

Could be as well 4-3-1-2 sometimes even 4-3-3. hell, sometimes good old 4-4-2 on the counters. I mean, having a good firepower upfront with good midfield and adequate CBs and good fullbacks could be a lot of options for the coach. It does not have to be exclusively 3 men defense all the time.

I want him here! I hope the Lukaku deal doesn't exclude him because missing him out for Lukaku is retarded. We should have left the giant rot in London, same way he left us last season!

Seeing reports saying if we get lukaku we wont get Dybala. A bit confused by this. Lukaku is only coming for a one year loan, and Dybala is a free transfer. We will be in need of another striker next year which will most like require a transfer fee. This transfer should be a no brainer for Zhang.

We will play a 352. That gives enough minutes to all of them. The 4th choice forward will have fewer minutes, and they have to accept that they are lower in the pecking order. But LaDyLuk will have enough minutes for each of them.

And I don't see any issues about any of them not gelling with the other. Dybala will play as the support striker beside whoever is the main no. 9. And LuLa have shown they can play together.

From a financial standpoint Dybala looks like a smart buy, while from sporting one Lukaku is the way to go? I guess. Ionno. Maybe Marotta just wanted to pluck Dybala out of Juve no matter what, even if we don't get him

I see the sporting merit in having Dybala. He can unlock defences, like no one else in this team. We have struggled against quality opposition or against ones that sit back and defend deep. Also note that we have replaced Perisic with Gosens, who is a very different player. And now neither of our wingers has creativity or can take on their man in isolated situations. We saw the impact Sanchez had in many cases, and the extra class and control he provided. Dybala could do that, and also be much more of a goal threat.

Having only two good strikers is NOT enough to win titles. We need atleast three. Lautaro and Lukaku alone won't win us shit when there's serious competition in Serie A. Any injury means we're back to Dzeko and Correa which is bad (given that Sanchez also leaves).

Don't have one.
When was the last time formation with amf worked for us. Sneijder and mourinho era?

Always had a feeling guys got swallowed by a black hole every time we put them there...

Don't know if it has to do with the players quality or the fact that position kinda became redundant in today's football.

tbh Sneijder works better there than Dybala. But i feel it's the only way to make it work. Doesn't make sense to bench Dybala or Lautaro or Lukaku if we have all of them.

Inzaghi had some success with Luis Alberto as an AM. Though Alberto is closer to a CM while Dybala is closer to a striker.

That suggests me Dybala and Correa backing the first pair. Don't like it.

My greatest concern in deploying 3-4-1-2 is the vulnerability of defence and being overrun in every match. About the latter, there is reason why this formation is neglected by virtually all coaches in the world because possession and pressing becomes more important than ever. We would see 40-60 possession whenever we play a decent team since we can't keep up with opponents' midfielders. It might work in Serie A where most teams are inferior but we would be obliterated in UCL.

Benching one of Lukaku or Dybala is not an attractive option either for they will be the top earners. We cannot afford spending hefty money for rotation player and they also will make a racket to start every possible match. In the end, it would be wiser to sign only Lukaku or Dybala rather than putting ourselves in the complicated dilemma.
