Every morning that I wake up and don't see Skriniar holding the PSG jersey next to some Sheikh gives me a tiny bit of hope that the sale won't happen.
Then I realise that our own CEO is aggressively trying to sell him and that hope is extinguished!
Seriously though - fucking June has passed. That means that any Skriniar sale can not possibly be linked to a financial requirement in the past fiscal year. As Cafe has said many times, a Skriniar sale prior to July 1 would indicate that we needed money before the financial year ended (which would also likely indicate some kind of clause with Oaktree). The fact that Skriniar has not been sold yet diminishes that possibility i.e. we're not forced into selling Skriniar for 60m because we need to make 60m by June 30.
Therefore, there's no reason we can't use the remaining time to raise funds from other players instead of Skriniar (hypothetically).
Obviously it's easier to replace one player than it is to sell and replace multiple players, but it's not about fucking ease, is it? Those who take the path of least resistance usually end up being losers, as we saw last season. Gotta keep your best players and build around them - not steadily degrade your core for mediocre trash - even if it means sacrificing non-essential players.
Ball's in Marotta's court now. We still need to make plusvalenza, certainly, but we have time and we have options. Let's see how he plays this.
