Posting this because Handanovic is in the graphic. You’ve got to give him credit for the way he’s improved playing the ball with his feet so late in his career.
I don't really trust this graphic because Ederson is best GK with their feet. Handa is not bad either, but he certainly is better than Ederson. This is because the graphic fails to deliver is the decision making and the low pass quality. The former is Handa's main weakness in distributing because he occasionally passes the ball straight to tightly marked players near the box, putting us in instant danger. Meanwhile, Ederson or other GK do not hesitate to hoof the ball clear when they are under heavy pressure.

Gotta disagree on this, Handa has always been great with his feet, even when he first came here.

The only thing that has improved is the ability of those who receive his passes, tactically and technically.
Couldn't disagree more.

I've always reckoned Handanovic was very weak with his feet for the early part of his career. I remember being concerned about this when Spalletti first came here thinking "how are going to play out from the back and build up from deep with this goalkeeper?"

I agree with thatdude and Candyman in saying Handanovic improved drastically after Spalletti arrived and implemented his style of football. Credit to both of them, especially Handanovic for making such notable improvement so late in his career.

Yep, it's you who's in my mind when I were writing that comment

Honestly, I always find Handa tidy and confident in possession, even in his early days here when building from the back wasn't the meta. Every time you or anyone complained about this, I was always like "wat? Handa is clearly better than some of our defender with his feet, what more can you ask from a GK"?

Most of the improvements in his passing have come from the receivers. They are both better tactically and technically. These days we have 3 ball playing defenders and 3 technically capable midfielders. No only that they can neatly control the ball, they are always in position to receive the ball, Handa can find a clear passing lane most of the time. Back then we had Kondogbia and Gagliardini in front of him whose control was suspect and they also tended to hide.

Same to Skriniar, I don't know what's going on with people and I fail to understand how he went from a defender who can play CDM to clumsy and awkward on the ball. He's literally the same guy and his ball playing has always been good.

Gotta disagree, too. I think when he came in the squad he wasn't so good. Was also different times and he was brought up by a different school of coaching. Then he and the coaches (as I said, especially Lucianone) did a great job and since around 2018 he is one of the best in short distribution and very good in the long one, too (not as much though).

Sure we lost 3-1, could have really been embarrassed more if it wasn't for a couple of really good saves.

And who gives a shit tbh what freakin Felipe Anderson has to say about Handanovic. I don't mind starting Onana at all, we just shouldn't dis Handanovic like that. A bona fide LGI for a few years now.

Of corurse, it's normal and desirable to say whatever you want, but there has been a pretty toxic narrative about Handa for years now imo

He will be benched when he starts costing us points. So far he hasnt. Im also pretty sure Inzaghi wont drop him for the derby.
Onana should have played today tho and in all these kind of games with shit teams.

I love Handa. In my opinion he was a Top 5 goslkeeper for 2-3 years.
But his magical saves are getting less, his mistakes are getting more.

I d start with Onana and of course play Handa in the Coppa or maybe from time to time against a small team.

Until he starts costing us points on a regular basis, Inzaghi will continue to use him as our number one. No amount of hoping for otherwise will change that.

Did you watch preseason when Onana started? we lost every game.... and got scored on alot. He will probably have Copa Italia games and maybe a Champions league game against the worst team in our group. I just don't see him getting a spot this season.

That Giroud goal was just weak. He took a step down to right at the moment Giroud's shot was released to far left of his goal. Then it was too late already for him.

Yeah, Handa should have been smarter on that goal. The others, one on Hakan and the other just a great individual effort coupled with Inter's brilliant defensive shape and reaction.

I love Handa but it’s past time. Maignan saves at very least one but probably two of the goals Milan scored. Give Handa the selection vs Bayern then put Onana in. He simply can’t be worse and if he is, then we’ll know he’s not it either.

I can see Limonade fielding Onana against Bayern, so when he concede 3 or 4 Limonade will have further excuse to field Handa again.

Weak goalkeeping at the first goal when he sidestepped to the right just as leao pulled the trigger when he should finish shifting position and start little jump to stop the incoming shots. He did it at Firmino's goal last season and it happened again last night.

Dude is really starting to be a liability....
Can we atleast try and see what onana can do? Thing i would hate most is Handa ruining his legacy here cause we played him to loong when we had a replacement on the bench.
