Here's the full interview. He talks about how City varies between attacking the near and far post depending on their opponents, whereas Madrid focuses on the wingers. He's also on Wyscout regularly to analyse every move and what he does well (and not so well).

Not been an easy year for him. Keeping him is a big risk but he's quite likeable on a personal level.

I'm on the few ones that still think he has to go, despite anything that happens in these upcoming matches. He's only getting older, which means slower reactions, prone to more injuries and everything else. I don't care much about his salary, because a top team needs to have players whom earn good money so they could make difference, but the issue is that I don't think Lukaku will be THAT good ever again.
it depends on how he csn adapt. he makes much with his speed and body. getting older he would need to change his playing style, becoming a box striker like dzeko or giroud who use there body just in the box.

Gags was pretty okay for half a year as well. I would believe in Lukaku more if he wasn't MIA for half of the season... and the games he did play, he had some real stinkers. That did happen, we must not forget that. What guarantee do we have he won't have a part of the season stinking the place again?

The second loan will really be a big gamble, just like this first loan was.
How much of that half a season was he injured? I agree that he stunk up the place in quite a few games when he came back but he should get some leeway as again he was not fit for most of the first half of the season.

Again to me it all comes down to price and what chelsea/lukaku want. If Romelu wants to stay here and makes that clear to chelsea we might have a chance to snatch him up on the "cheap". Currently we re paying 20 mio for him which we cannot do next season any more no matter what...

Also not sure if another loan is reasonable according to all news chelsea needs to slash their amortization costs and selling lukaku would go a long way even if it is at a huge loss. Imho if chelsea is ready to take a hit and lukaku takes another small pay cut we could pull this off at a very reasonable price.

I will not be emotionally swayed by his sudden revival. Availability is skill and he is unavailable for half of this season. There is no guarantee if he could consistently stay fit throughout the next season. We should only extend his loan if the cost is ridiculously cheap else we use the fund to sign another forward. And a permanent transfer is a bigger no because he is a physical striker who is already 30 years old.

Just went here to post this. He redeemed himself quite a bit recently. Starting to like him again...Be decisive in Istanbul and all is forgiven.

It's not about forgiving. We just need to run the club properly in order to not bleed money every year and stay competitive. We can't get a boner everytime a player play 3 good matches and ask the club to keep him! Several players in the squad earn too much for their overall impact and Lukaku is one of them. If the club and the player really want to continue together he needs to lower his current salary and the club pay less for what they paid Chelsea for his loan.

I really don't know how it would work out financially for Inter. Another expensive loan is not wise, a three deal at a lower cost is risky with Inter needing bring in new personnel. The only way is to say adios to Dzeko, sell Correa (like who would and much less take on a loan) and sell somebody to a EPL team at an outrageous price. Kinda up to Chelsea and Lukaku's agent to make the numbers work so it's not a hindrance to Inter's plans for this summer's transfer objectives and probably the following year as well.

This, it's nothing to do with punishing, forgiving, rewarding or shit like that.

Half the salary (4m net) and no loan fee and I'm ready to do the deal. Probably Lukaku and Chelsea both won't accept these conditions. I would assume Lukaku asks same as Lautaro 6.2m net and we are probably going to give him that and then Chelsea asks that 8m again but will accept 4-5m. Then it's not 20m gross cost anymore for the season but more close to 12-13m. Around the same as what Correa's annual gross cost the club is.

Still too much in my books but what you gonna do.

Care to elaborate who you would get instead of Lukaku then?

This with the exception that i think anything under 15 mio per season for him is more than fair....
I do not expect him to be out for half a season again neither do i think he s close to being finished...

I d also like to see who it is that we could get for that amount who would be on Roms level....

Still think it s more likely that chelsea will want to sell him and take a loss rather than loan him to us again as their ammortization costs are way to fucken high.
But to me it s the same thing as long as his total cost is in that 12to 15 mio range I m fine with it.

Let's just get the season over before speculating what to do with him. He's being useful for a change.
