I don't now, may be that he'll shine in that role, but to me it seems like a compromise. Although my Romanista brother told me he was excellent as a left back last season. We'll see how it turns out. I sure hope he'll be bought to be a left-back.

Johnny Chivu is a natural lb as well as a centreback. He made his debut for Romania as a lb and was brilliant in that role at euro 2000.

yeah I remember exactly that tournament. Chivu offensive work as left back was just AMAZING. I didn't know him before but after that tournament he became my fav.

As we have not been seeing any rumours on the departure of any of our main central defenders and after the sale of Grosso, it does seem that Chivu's indeed gonna join Inter mainly to play in the left back, atleast till Matrix is with us.

If that is the case, then I will definitely feel bad for Maxwell but I hope it gets lots of playing time as season goes by and it's also good that Maxwell's a versatile player who can play very well in the left wing (LM) as well. After all, Maxwell did play in the LM or LCF of Ajax's 3-4-3/4-3-3 formation as well.

And this could also mean that we can play a bit offensive player in the left midfield.;)

That is Stan moving in the midfield with JZ and Vieira/Cuchu....and an offensive AM :)

The problem I see with Maxwell is that he's more of a Left Winger than a Left Back. He's got good ball control, but his defensive skills in LB makes me nervous.
I would only play Max in LB if Zanetti plays in the left wing.

We dont use regular wings...

well...the new philosophy of football pretty much destroyed the term "wings" in the game..now u have two players controlling sidelines back and forth and bunch of defensive horses fighting for the ball in midfield

Yeah good point but that's not relevant to his post. We don't use wingers, that is true. However, I like to think a player like Quaresma is talented enough to play in the middle. :)

Back to defenders, we have the following:

Maicon Zanetti at RB
Matrix/Samuel and Burdisso/Cordoba at CB
Maxwell Zanetti at LB

Possibly one more LB would do good....doesn't have to be a star, if we don't get Chivu, b/c I don't see any good talent available out there. That said, Heinze is close but that guy is a walking disaster, if I ever saw one. Too many big lapses in concentration. Remember the World CUp/ Arrhhhhguh

for LB position maybe Inter are counting on players that can play also as lb like J.Zanetti and Burdisso and also real LB Maxwell maybe for that reason they are not going to buy any lb player hhh ?
what do you think ? am i right ?

Since you guys want Chivu so much I will send a fax to Moratti and Chivu urging them to come here not excluding a hate mail to Roma president and forza Roma if that does not work I will try using my telepathic capabilities to destroy and give psychological pain via Lamb of God meditation to the Roman club.Wish me luck for our greater Inter :D

If Ibra came out in a newspaper and said ~ 'if we want to be a part of top clubs family and satisfy players' and our fans' ambitions, our management and transfer directors should sign a guy named guest who was recently appearing on the FI forum, as he is a world class talent that would really make a difference and guarantee success' I am positive that the next morning a search warrant would appear on all the walls of the Palazzo Durini stating something like 'Wanted - Name: guest, Location: n/a, Last seen: FI Forum, Description: unknown, Note: bring at all cost'

I am not saying that it's Ibra's or Moratti's fault, I am saying that it is the modern life&football that we're living in. And now you go and be a Mancini in an Inter. :/

I dont know why nobody here is thinking about signing another LB just in case Chivu actually decides to stay at Roma.

All would have been fine and well if we didn't give up Grosso. Perhaps Heinze is a fallback option, a horrible one at that.

Whats happened is gone its the past. Heinze doesnt cut it for me. But I cant think of any good LB's off the top of my head.:p

OR maybe we are planning to keep Andreolli and Tyson on our team this season. J.Z. can be backup for LB.

Yeah , true. We have enough defenders as it is. I'm hoping for the one place where we are lacking to be filled-creative midfielder.
