BlackAndBlueSoul in Inter - Chelsea (24 Feb 10) said:
He missed training though, if he trains tomorrow he will play vs Chelsea, if not let's be ready to see Toldo in action :wallbang:

Other news : it seems that Castellazzi will be our reserve keeper next season, everybody claims he reached a deal with Inter. If I'm not mistaken we got him for free since his contract with Sampdoria expires this year.

Reserve as in replacing Toldo? or Orlandoni?

Scenarios
1. Toldo leaves, wants to play a seaon or 2 before retirement
2. Orlandoni retires, Toldo becomes number 3 (i seriously doubt dat)
3. Orlandoni retires, Casterllazzi becomes number 3

I don't think that we need Castelazzi. after one of Toldo and Orlandoni retires, I want to see Primavera keeper (Belec?) as second/third keeper.

I agree. I don't see the point in having a third goalkeeper who's older than our second. I believe the third goalkeeper spot should be reserved for an understudy, who is not experienced enough to be the no.2, but can possibly contest that position, and even be no.1 in the future. I don't know if Belec is up for that, but in any case, we should have a Primavera keeper as our no.3.

Castelazzi is not needed unless Toldo wants to leave. Then we would have Castelazzi as 2nd keeper and Belec as 3rd one.

It would be totally foolish to get Viviano at this point. Julio Cesar is 30 years old. Viviano wouldn't have a chance to play for real in many, many years. How could he develop that way? He couldn't.

Cech was brought in to be Cudicini's backup...you never know what can happen.

Cudicini wasn't one of the best GKs in the world.

Just because he is the best, does not mean he is injury-proof. Cech did not get his starting role because he was better than Cudicini to begin with. Cudicini got injured and Cech stepped up big for Chelsea...

Perhaps the Inter management has realized the Viviano is not improving as much as they had planned and may never be our first team keeper. From what I've heard he has been rather shakey this year. So instead of paying him and keeping him out on loan maybe they feel like they can get more out of him as a second or third keeper. Of course I could be completely wrong.

Castellazzi is quality. Didn't know he was that old though. I reckon he has 1 good season left but I'm surprised he didn't just stay on at Samp.

34 is not old for a goalkeeper. It varies from player to player, but most of the keepers easily go until they are 40.

Castellazzi was very good keeper at Samp whenever I watched them in last year or so. He will be a great sub for Julio if needed.

I would preffer Viviano or Belec to push forward, but Belec is probably not ready yet, needs more playing time (Primavera can offer him that), while Viviano if come, he would just sit on the bench or stands all the time. Him playing all the time at Bologna is the best resolution for now.

So Toldo will become third keeper and Orlandoni will retire with us?
Certainly hope that will be the case

He comes for free so its a steal for me. Quality keeper and unfortunately more reliant then Toldo who hasn't look solid when given the chance this season. Shame we cant rely on Viviano just yet... Maybe the season after.

Orlandoni is club-trained so he is a busy man for us. Or we have another 4 guy club-trained? Balo, Santon, Krhin?

So Castelazzi it is then. That's fine since Toldo is goner by now. He will serve for one more season and then he retires. Belec or other young keeper can take the third spot. Actually Toldo's renewal was pretty stupid since we could have looked the case this summer/during this season.

We will have Balotelli, Santon, Krhin and def/mid for 4th club-trained spot. I don't think it's reasonable to add Belec as fourth keeper to the list unless Toldo is stripped from that list.

Caldirola/Destro or donati for that spot I think.
