Can I throw a dark horse into the ring? Alessandro Diamanti. I've followed him throughout Bologna and West Ham and this guy is the perfect combination of flair, creativity and grit. He can start moves and finish them off as well. And I'm pretty sure he won't be demanding a starting position, he can be a squad rotation player. And I'm also sure Bologna won't turn down an offer of around 5 mil from us, esp if the player pushes for it.

What do you think?

why the hell would we spend 5 mil on a 29 year old backup player, who has no chance of being first team

Why? The best thing in Dortmund is a coach. Sneijder is five times better player from Kagawa, he's not bad but without Klopp he will be huge question in any team. Sahin is great example what could happen with Kagawa.

Have ever watched Dortmund's game? Aren't you just writing this out of what little you know (while pretending as if you know lots), just like "Sahin can't start in Real, so it should be... "? :eek:blivious: I don't say Klopp is a bad coach, and he deserves lots of respect and approval but it's also very easy to find flaws about him. I even doubt you watch this season's Inter; Sneijder is getting his form and especially the latest few matches give a good sign but overall he is hardly a 12~13M € wage player, and who could claim he is five times better than one of the best players in Germany. As for Sahin, without trolling one could claim none of the current Inter squad can be a constant starter in Real, which tells something.

Why are we being linked to Ben Arafa so much lately?!

He is a flop plus if we want to buy an AM our main target should be Kagawa.

Kagawa is highly rated, he'd have better options. Ben Arfa wouldn't.

Do we really need new names in the middle. Since Poli is ours 100% and it seems Guarin will be bought with Obi staying as things stand 100% we are set in this department. Cambiasso is here to stay and lets not forget Zanetti in the same department + Deki. That's 6 players for 3 spots.

Basically we could buy someone only if sell and that doesn't seem likely as things stand. For the AM spot we also have 3 players with Cou returning and lets not forget Lavezzi can also slot in there if we decide to play as we play now. Normally if we buy him.

It would make the team again huge where promising players such as Obi and Poli would get the shorter end and very little playing time. As far as I'm concerned they earned a vote of confidence that we can count on them and they can deliver quality when needed.

Its more a problem right now of giving these players playing time over Deki, Zanetti or Cambi then buying additional players in order to rejuvenate the team. The youth is here with a perfect mix of experience to produce results as we saw during last few games.

As far as I'm concerned we shod buy only if Sneijder is sold or Guarin is not bought. The CF spot and whole defense shod be of a lot more concern.

We can't rest on our laurels. A good end to the season does not mean we don't overhaul. Not to be brutal, a midfield consisting of Poli and Obi does not result in a Scudetto. It is a step in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go.

In addition to Ben Arfa we are also starting to get linked to Tiote or whatever, some strong midfielder in Newcastle, a garbage man afaik. Sounds like another Muntari tbh o.o

Away and dinnae talk pish! Tiote has been brilliant this season running the Newcastle midfield from the rear, Ben Arfa has really picked up his form this season and is starting to show the potential that was often talked about a few seasons ago. His goal against Bolton a few weeks ago was sensational.

If Newcastle have such rubbish players, then why are they still fighting for CL places and considered more likely to land Vertonghen and Douglas than we are?

TBH though I'd rather sign Veloso from Genoa as our new DM rather than Tiote, so the NUFC team that has been so great this season stays together!!

The midfield is fine with DEki Guarin poli Obi Cambiasso, for next year + we can get Duncan in as it looks like Stramma gonna stay the youngster will get the chance to play.

IMO we shouldn't try forcefully change our squad to be able to win Scudetto right away. Plan should be to target for 2-3 years ahead, that in that time we would be possibly even a contender in CL, being a contender in Scudetto comes with that package automatically (and possibly sooner).

Exactly, I think one of the sources of our problems is that we do rest on our laurels too much. After the treble, after the cup world cup, after our return to a winning streak with Ranieri and I feel that this is so right now! Quite a few people (on here and on other sites) are saying that it was solely the coach that was the problem when it clearly isn't you could see the same issues coming up even with Strama. The team is old and needs to be changed, regardless of this fantastic feat of bravery and victory against Bilan. This should be started by our Defence (especially our defence, my god our defence...) and our midfield.

IMO we shouldn't try forcefully change our squad to be able to win Scudetto right away. Plan should be to target for 2-3 years ahead, that in that time we would be possibly even a contender in CL, being a contender in Scudetto comes with that package automatically (and possibly sooner).

And this is how our beloved team should be reformed, patiently growing a good team. Mind you if we're already competitive by next season then so be it. ;)

I don't see why not. We don't have Real or Barca in the league and our competition ain't any better in this department. Jubes midfield works like high octane but there is no extra class there except Pirlo. They were also very lucky with schedule this year and next to none injuries. Once there schedule got a bit messy with Coopa Italia they started drooping points and couldn't hold the tempo. Something they will need to deal with all year long next season.

Milan had Muntari, Nocerino, Gatusso, Ambrosini, Emanuelson ..... not exactly a benchmark for us to achieve. I think its good enough if rotated properly if Guarin is made permanent.

Our problem was the back line this year 52 goals so far. Much more than Milan and Juve.

Also I agree with Cafe we are in transitional year so expectations shod be lowered a bit and we shod build over next 2-3 years.

I' d like to see M'Vila or Lass Diarra on the position of defensive midfilder, they are both great players, with high stamina, and we need to bring a little freshness to our team

Guarin is great job, Obi should stay, Wesey should stay
