I think Icardi is a gamble but a very good one IMO. Even a relatively good forward would cost upwards of €15M, Icardi has already showed to be at least a solid forward with a great eye for goal with an enormous potential, he already has the composure of a much older player.

Even if he doesn't perform that great for the rest of the season, there is no way he'll cost any less than €10M, and more probably his value would rise some and more teams would go after him. So the moment was now or never, and I think management made the right decision.

12-15m€ for this guy? Talking about a huge risk.

Though, having Milito as his mentor will definitely help. But is it that we've scouted the kid before or we're gonna splash all that money for him just because of those 8 goals scored (half of them in one match) ?

edit. I haven't seen the kid play ever.

Well, tbh, these days 10+ mio for a 20 yo is a decent price.

No Milan player
From the little Ive seen from him is that he isnt really a target player. He is more in the mould of Milito but maybe not as a good in terms of movement. But than again Ive seen him play like 3 games so

Milito isnt a bad analogy for this guy, and milito can certainly help him work on his movement.

the most important thing is that he has clear raw finishing skills, and he's also showed some signs of development - and he's picking up experience in Serie A very quickly. If you chart his goals over time, you'll see exactly what I mean. He's been scoring a lot more in the last few weeks than before.

He has all the hall markings of a great player, lets just hope this isnt a temporary spark of form, but rather, something more permanent.

If indeed it is true that the deal has been concluded then the players contract is just a formality.

Also (again, assuming the media is not shit talking), I'm quite sure Samp would not have been willing to let him go in a January window. Maybe Inter has learnt their lesson from the Sanchez saga ? And locked him in for next season.

Either way, if he comes in the end, I'm sure the project is still quite non-existent and Moratti just fucks up again :sarcasm:

agreed. I think they've finally realized that simply giving the house a new paint job doesn't change much about it, and you have to really invest to deliver results. Which is what we're now seeing. Good on them, I'm glad they (seem) to be changing their ways.

It's a lot of money for a kid who before January, was basically a nobody. But it's a risk worth taking, he keeps playing like he is this time next year Samp will chuck a 30-40mil price tag on him and he'll be way out of our reach and off to a PGS/City/Madrid. Besides, not saying it's a sure thing, but he is a Barca youth product, think we can all agree they have produced some pretty ok players the last couple of years... :work:

I expect for that :slick:

--updated--

and here comes the denial

Sampdoria deny Icardi sale talk
By Football Italia staff

A Sampdoria official has dismissed the notion that a deal has been done with Inter which will see Mauro Icardi head to San Siro.

Widespread reports this morning had suggested that the Argentine striker would be moving to the Nerazzurri at the end of the season.

However, Doria director Rinaldo Sagramola has told the Gazzetta Giallorossa website that the stories are somewhat premature.

“I deny the reports,” Sagramola noted. “These voices of an Inter sale are not true. Inter have told us that they are interested, but there is some way to go before saying that we’ve sold him.

“It would also be against Federation rules seeing that the player is still under contract with us,” he continued.

“We’re actually waiting for the boy to respond to our offer to extend his contract.”

The official also said he was unaware of any interest from Roma for the 19-year-old forward.

haha just wait for other denials :awyeah:

is this Balasz Dzsudzsak any good? I'd rather sign Markovic over him, to be honest - but I've never seen him play.

No. He fucked up his carreer from moving from PSV to Anzhi, only for money. Now he is in Dinamo, but why? It was in the media, that Liverpool wanted to loan him and things like that, but I don't think it's true. I'm not saying, that he is too bad, but I think, for that money we could find a much better solution. And actually I don't like him either despite he is my fellow countryman.

There's some speculations lately that reiterate our interest in Weiss. So I don't see a chance of getting neither Markovic or Dzudzak.
With Longo, Icardi and Weiss I think we're pretty much set with Livaja having another year on loan.

Livaja already is going to spend next season at Atalanta. That's already set in stone, unless we decide to break his co-ownership (which will only happen if he scores like 15 goals before the end of the season)

Longo would be retarded to stay at Inter next season. He should move to a team where he will start week in week out - no matter what level. I'd rather he played Serie B, 38 matches, and scored like 40 goals, than La Liga, playing 10 matches and scoring 2. In terms of experience and profile it'd be better.

So, really, our forwards next year will be Icardi, Palacio, Cassano, Milito, and +1 wide player (like Markovic or Weiss)

Apparently, we are in need of wingers due to the formation we are now playing. I say the first player we get is Nani. Manchester United recently bought Zaha which apparently "paths the way" for Nani's exit from the club. He is not happy there and his contract ends next year therefore he could be a possibility, I say 15 million could do it. I've also been reading recently (http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...-madrid-outcast-di-maria-3810941#.URtyPZEgGK0) that Di Maria is unhappy at Madrid...apparently Branca already showed interest last transfer window and apparently J.Zanetti could play a key role, bearing in mind we have a lot of Argentinians that could be possibly advantageous if the deal intensified!
