At the end of the day Verathia has earned his special ones award by selflessly helping with with the redesign of the forum, along with many other things he has done. He deserves it without a doubt. No one else can say the same

And JJM, while I disagree with the notion that much of the stuff you post is 'useless', and I appreciate the effort you go to post news. However, I do feel your constant overemphasise on "thanks", and by being a founder of a stupid club which basically promotes nothing but BS hurts your credibility.

The thank coalition isn't just about thanks tbh...it's for keeping this place you know light spirited...things can't be all serious all the time ffs.
Everybody likes to be thanked for their effort though tbh... i don't tell people what to thank and what not...or beg for thanks or shit like that...free will and all that. I'm sorry if you see it in a way that it's forced and stupid...it's funny though...thank coalition wouldn't be alive without it's members...and there are quite a few.

The inherent dynamic/feel of the forum doesn't depend on the existence of some club. However, having a clique which artificially increases each others thank totals and takes away from the purpose of the thank button hurts the forum. IMO

I have no problem with you personally, JJM.

JJM you should never ask for "special one" ... what does it means when you ask for it ... if they think you are special one we all know you would already get one ... unless it was also a joke

@shaun ... this thank button is like "like" on fb... so if post is good i will hit thank no matter if its joke or not... and i still dont understand how that freaken button hurts the forum... people hurts this fucken forum not some silly button

I might have exaggerated my distaste for the thank coalition. Although I do feel the idea of it in general is ridiculously childish. Anyway, I digressed from the main point. Verathia has done a lot for the forum, and most of which has gone unnoticed. He truly deserves the special ones award. An award which doesn't get handed out easily. JJM, Devious, Ronin etc etc all have been helpful contributors with their posting of news from various sources. I don't think that should be enough in itself to receive that award. Especially if it is just over a period of one year.

That's just one man's opinion of course.

Could we make like, star symbols?

So if you've won best poster twice, you'd have the same logo but like one star under the cup?

I know it'd mean we'd have to edit the logos to add in the stars, but that isnt too hard, right?

I dont see what the issue of keeping track of the FIF Oscars is. It's somethign to be proud of, and you have to consider how much effort the admins put in to it anyway, between counting all the votes and so on.

If we're going to do it at all, we should do it properly

Otherwise we might as well scrap it. Doesnt bother me, my posting isnt affected by the oscars

Take me for instant, Im the equivelant version of "yes man", I thank posts I don't like, I thank posts of people I don't really like, I thank stupid people as much as I thank smart people, but that's just me, Im a giving kinda person and I'm so generous, specially when it's something that really doesnt cost a thing. As much as some might think the thank button is useless, it is relatively important for others to make them think less left out and more counted in the community even if there opinions isnt yet established for being young or less smarter than others.

i share the same view with icardiscores, rasha, and devious. people take thank coalition too far. and shaun's word of "credibility" is little bit harsh. no hard feeling bro, but you crossed the line by trying to measure someone's integrity with virtual/on line interaction. it's not the thank coalition spoils the forum but the way people deliver their argument, its content, and attitude. but it's a community afterall. pluralism and diversity exist inherently. i dont need to worry about the forum, we have rules, mods, and admin. and as far as i know you guys have done great job to keep fif run in good way.

i'm newbie at thank coalition but the main reason i join becuase i feel welcomed. wera is the first to chat with me, devious is the one who welcomes me at first, icardisocres offered me to join the coalition. so all basically is about the feeling not left out as devious said.

what if i feel bothered with these following posts :
1. overuse of english. vocab or diction show off. for non english speaker like me it's difficult to understand
2. acting like a sole badass in discussion as if he/she was the smartest one. laughing at others weak opinion and make fun of it
3. the lack of appreciation on long and serious post made by the member. and i see it many times

but again, we cant know for sure whether those things are serious or not. therefore i just enjoy the forum with all its dynamic.

and people deserve this oscar. the recipient is well proven to get credit and rewarded with the badge.
