I formed this opinion after watching bunch of matches of both salah in fiorentina and perisic in wolfsburg. salah might be become better in the future, but perisic is better player right now. he is the definition of a complete winger - physically commanding, good in the air, can cut inside from either flank before shooting, has a good cross and long ball, strong in duels. salah is also a good player but right now he only possesses dribbling and pace. he's physically weak and easy to knock down, his right foot is shit, he's predictable and easy to beat in duels. he might become the better player in the future but he's not one right now.
You see, the only foreign league they show here on cable tv is Bundesliga. On weekends there's a 2.5 hour program showing all highlights (on "Sport 1", German Interista can vouch for that). I'm exposed to the Bundesliga like any other German. It's not just the match itself that matters, but more so the commentary, match analysis, experts' opinions and so forth. With all due respect, I believe I can make a more accurate statement about Perisic than you. Though I agree with most of the attributes you described Perisic with.
And regarding Salah, I have been his admirer since he joined Basel in 2012, stopped following him when he joined Chelsea but obviously continued to follow him when he came to Serie A. I will admit: I'm a Salah fanboy
And exactly that made me question my opinion on his abilities after reading your post and made me unsure if I wasn't being biased towards the comparison between the to or not.
I simply think your earlier statement of Perisic being a class above Salah totally wrong. Being physically commanding isn't much of use when you're on the flanks, but it isn't a bad thing either
.
What I do agree with is that he can play on both sides, which could prove to be a deciding factor to who may end up here. Both are good players with different pros and cons. But none is a fucking class above the other.
I don't generally believe in the informative value of stats. But what Salah achieved in the last couple of months in Serie A in comparison to what Perisic achieved during a whole season is quite interesting and you might wanna look into it. Do tell me what you think after

Salah for me should be option #1, especially after last season's performance.
