Yes. If no Modric then Thiago Alcantra please. No shifting of Asamoah into midfield to cover up please.

Paredes, Rafinha or Thiago. If Inter can't get any of these then better not sign nobody.

Thiago would be an amazing transfer, but I doubt we can beat Real Madrid to it. Real can offer money, we can only offer a loan + option.

But if somehow we get Thiago, maybe next summer we can also get Rafinha back. These kids have footballing genes.

I'm not very familiar with Paredes. How does he compare to Rafinha and what would be a fair price for him? I think if we can get Rafinha for 30-35 we would be set for the season

So is it Barella who we gonna get if Modric just played us? I'd prefer him to Paredes. On the other hand Paredes might be more ready to be in Inter starting lineup?

Of course, Thiago Alcantara would be ideal. Zero links to him but why the fuck not? If he's put of Bayern and there's no room in Barca.

Yeah I hope we are at least looking at someone along those lines. Or just go back for Rafinha?

Whould Thiago go to Real if Modric stays? I really doubt it. He doesn't fit to the starting lineup so what would be the point? At Inter he would walk to the starting lineup.

Rafinha will reject us cuz we treated him like an injury-prone, overpriced, worst case scenario, plan b alternative to all the mids we've been linked to so far. There were even Bakayoko rumors ffs.

Not exactly. We still need to make even the sales and buys, it's just that we can count in all the sales of this season too and not just the sales from the previous EL list.

Signing either one of Rafinha or Thiago would be amazing, but I doubt it will happen.

Most likely the Modric transfer will fail and we'll end up with Paredes.

or we cant afford 40 million for a player who is just promising.... because we aren't in the EPL. Did any other team go for Rafinha? What options does he have he isn't going to play at Barca at all

I mentioned it in the other thread, apparently Keita never got his Spanish passport so we can forget about Paredes for now.

So, with Modric staying at Real (anyway I was skeptical he was coming here), what are the alternatives. From what we discussed here:

-Rafinha: proved player here, wanted to play for Inter, most of us will be pleased. But after the whole summer saga does he want to be here anymore. Barca sold Paulihno, Iniesta and Andre Gomes this summer. And they bought only the 31y injured Vidal. I am not sure he is still on the market. From what I read he was one of Barca's best players in preseason. Will Barca want to deal with us again, after we don't respect our agreement.

-Paredes: he was a pretty hot name in the last 2 summers. In Russia is under the radar. And he was good under Spaletti. Spallo could give the best judgement if he is worth launch an offer for him or not.

-Barella: young, italian, already 2 seasons in Serie A at Cagliari where he was their best player. We could be the best place where he could make the next quality step. Our relations with Cagliari are good. So we could make a deal who please both clubs.

-Thiago Alcantara: pipe dream. Will walk in our starting line-up. The price?

Good news is the english mercato is over. There are only 5-6 clubs left with financial power. Ausilio have a week to deliver a good midfield. Because in this moment Brozo-Naing-Vecino/Gags with papa Valero back-up is extremely thin. Even if Dalbert becomes competent and Asa will be a permanent midfielder or somehow Joao Modric becomes reliable, the midfield is our weakest link. And in the midfiels are decided most of the games.

Someone sais Paredes doesn't have EU passport so he's out after Keita.

There more options, we just have to wait. I think there is an option we’ll get LB and Asamoah would play as midfielder.

We really should be going for Paredes instead of Keita. That's a much higher EU priority at this stage. Only Brozovic and Nainggolan are reliable performers in midfield. There's a high chance that Valero will start important games this season. We're in deep shit if Modric doesn't arrive which is expected. I'm not fond of the idea of adding another mediocre LB while shifting Asamoah to midfield.
