The Giroud rumours remind me of the Keita Balde deal last year. At first it was loan with €25m option. Then €5m loan fee + €25m option. Then fucking €6m loan fee + €35m option. :einstein:

Likewise, with Giroud, the first figure I saw was €5m and now a few days later it's €7m. I'm amused by my own stinginess because that €2m difference seems to bother me more than I'd like to admit.

Whatever though, I'd still pay it. The cost of not bringing in a striker in January will be far greater than the cost of securing Giroud or whoever.

Exactly my thoughts. 7m€ is a disgusting figure but if Granovskaia stays firm, then Marotta has to dish that. Giroud is the perfect option in the sense that he's a good backup option. Desperately looking for minutes ahead of Euros next summer, can't get them at Chelsea as 3rd option in 1-striker system. Has the experience at the top level (France NT, Arsenal, less at Chelsea).

He can take minutes from Lautaro also but specially from Lukaku. We don't have to use Lukaku in EVERY match or at least not start him at every match. He can start lesser matches (if in CL, Serie A or if in EL, then EL matches) or come in later so we don't have to depend on 17-year-old kid, no matter how well Esposito has performed. Truth is he's still so young kid that mistakes will be there, the lack of exp will show and as we are contending for the Scudetto so far, we need to minimize that as much as possible. Veteran like Giroud is perfect for that. I could live him scoring like ZERO goals if he's there just as a useful pylon, dropping balls, trapping balls and being the real targetman upfront we lack in Lukaku.

Comparing Dzeko to Giroud is insulting to Dzeko
Of course. They are only comparable from the role they would fill in [target man backup], but we all know how that went [Roma asking for too much, Dzeko signing extension] so I guess we can move on. I`m just happy we didn`t have to sign Llorente.

While I also like Esposito a lot, I think it`s unfair to put such a pressure on him when we`re still in the fight for results. Conte will know the right moments when to insert him.

Inter's swoop for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has hit two major obstacles, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

1. Giroud currently earns around €8m a season at Stamford Bridge, something the Inter hierarchy won't consider offering him.

2. The other issue is the duration of any agreement, as Inter would like to offer Giroud an 18-month contract, whereas the striker wants a deal to run to 2022. :awyeah:

According to FCIN, Crystal Palace have made a concrete step forward by agreeing to satisfy the player’s wage demand. And then there is Borussia Dortmund although the Germans have only made an inquiry with Giroud’s representatives.

Between you & me, I would rather take Cavani for this kind of salary - but we all know he won`t move until summer.

Overall, finding an agreement on personal terms with the player will not be an issue. Furthermore, Giroud is also ready to force his departure by speaking directly with Chelsea. The player is not playing regularly with his club and he fears that, if it continues, it could soon jeopardize a spot in the French national team for the upcoming European Championship in summer 2020.

wrt future: Inter sent their best wishes to Genoa striker Christian Kouamé, who tore his front left cruciate ligament on international duty with the Ivory Coast. The 21-year-old forward underwent a knee operation on Monday. The Nerazzurri are reportedly interested in the 21-year-old striker, although his six-month recovery time may cool down the thoughts from the club. Whilst it’s unlikely that Kouamé will appear for Genoa again this season, there is a chance he could play the last few games of the season.

Inter wrote on Twitter: “FORZA! Good luck, Kouame, you’ll be back on the field stronger than ever before.”

Reason? He used to play in our U19 team ;)

It's like 99,9% certain his net salary is not 8m€, that's most probably his gross salary.

However his demand for 2,5 year contract might be a blocker. I wouldn't sign him for that long and would look alternatives if that's the deal breaker for him.

While I am usually all for signing experienced quality players, I don't want Giroud. He is just not good enough. Cavani is more of what I would like in terms of quality, if we have to go for an experienced striker - he is being marginalised at PSG with the form of Icardi and Mbappe, so there is a good chance he will be more open to offers this January.

There are rumours that PSG want to buy Icardi in January, maybe we can offer them a small discount if they include Cavani and Meunier/Kurzawa in the deal. And then spend the rest of the money to get a quality midfielder.

Probably Cavani is looking for a bigger contract what we are ready to give and in a long run more playing time than 3rd striker role.

Giroud should be happy for a 1 year contract worth half of what he makes right now. His only strength is holding up the ball for teammates that are more competent at scoring goals than he is.

While we all agree, this is just wishful thinking.
1. Cavani already stated he`ll stay until summer.
2. I expect him to replace Ibrahimovic in the MLS.

Yeah, there is not a role for Cavani at Inter which suits him.

No one talking about? Chiesa want's to leave Fiore and apparently he could leave already now in January. Juve is according to Barone not a option and Inter has Gabigol/Poli + money to offer.

The meeting between him and Comisso ended some hour ago. Chiesa refused to talk with the reporters. Maybe he finally realized that Fiorentina is a Serie B club.

There are already a lot of confirms that Inter want's him. The price is dropped according to the newspapers.

Republica - "Chiesa refused to play against Verona. He's team mates are not happy about this, it's a simliar situation like the one from Icardi from last year"

I was in crush in Chiesa in recent years, but I'm really disappointed how he plays this season. Maybe he struggles in Montella's strange 3-5-2 variation where there are no strikers, maybe he lacks motivation because he really wanted to change the club in the summer but Comisso's appointment changed everything or maybe he cannot make step forward to become a classy player. It's a bit risky to buy him now, because our striker duo seems to be perfect for the moment and we rather miss someone like Giroud who can give some rest to Lukaku than Chiesa...

But on the other side, he is a great player, great athlete, pretty smart guy, who can be a gamechanger in some difficult matches and it would be sad to see him in Juve's jersey.

Difficult one for Marotta.

It's a no from me for Chiesa. He's overrated, he has no position in 3-5-2, he's a diver and he apparently has a bad attitude. He has also chosen Juve over Inter according to GdS.

The only Italian talent i want at Inter is Tonali and we should do everything we can to book him for next summer.

Don't have one.
As a bargain or in some sort of swap deal with politano why not, I think he is worth a risk, although there is a big question mark if he can play ss position on the pitch.

i swear fif members sometimes are odd, that he would add a dimension to a "one dimensional tactic" is precisely why we should get him, not religiously seek 3-5-2 players.

With him we could play 3-4-3 (which Conte used in chelsea) or similar variants. Add another midfielder (eriksen?) and we goin for tripletta

I don't think Conte intends on switching formations any time soon.

He's only transitioned from a 4 man defence to a 3 man defence in previous years, but he rarely changed the 3-x-x variation. If we had wingers, he'd go 3-4-3, but since we are CM heavy and have zero wingers other than Politano and Sanchez who aren't even fit or guaranteed starters, it's probably a no go.
So it's not FIF that is seeking 3-5-2 only players, it's our management.

I really wanted him last year but now I don’t care. He doesn’t fit the system. He’s not really a second striker.

We should spend all our money of top quality midfielders.

I would take him if the price is around 50m because a) he is talented and fast and b) to prevent Juve and other rivals from signing him.
