I don't want to shit on Padelli, not at all, as I think he is partially a victim of the club's man-management policy in the last couple of years - never change a running system, never rotate our goalie if he's fit. That said, the truth is that the guy looks beyond shaky or mediocre, he looks afraid and completely lost between the posts. He reeks of fear and this translates to the defenders ensuing chaos in even the most basic scenarios in front of our goal. He's far too timid at times, far too aggressive at others and he is slow to act most of the time in general.
My god, when him and Skriniar collided he shouldn't have come out to box the fucking ball like a mad dog, as he by the way did on numerous occasions this game, leaving the entire fucking goal vacant. Afterwards he took a sweet second and a half to get up on his feet visibly observing as a bystander and only then remembering his job is to actually protect the goal. I don't blame him for SMS's goal, most goalkeepers would let that one in, but then again, most of the goals we've conceded with him goal keeping were partially, if not fully, on him. We're not talking about "luxury" players, we're talking about the fundamentals here and Padelli is clearly not showing those as things stand, for one reason or another. He just looks like an outfield player that's giving his best to be a stand-in goalkeeper and that's nowhere near enough. Dude is getting paid god-knows-how-much and is a grown ass man, yet I somehow feel Radu would perform much better if he was in his shoes.
