James is going to want to go somewhere that he's going to be a regular starter at. His last two seasons at Madrid saw him sitting far more often than playing. It was moderately better at Bayern, but he just wasn't terribly happy living in Germany.

We could theoretically have a starting spot open for him, but it would require a serious formation overhaul. Which I wouldn't mind but, you know, we're talking Conte here.

If the coach cannot work something out of a midfield of Eriksen, James Rodriguez, Brozovic, Barella, Sensi and Tonali, then he should re-evaluate his career choices.

That midfield looks good on paper, may do well in FM or something. But on the pitch off the ball, I am sorry that is a shite midfield. This is real life man. Any 3 of those 6 you start, a good team will cut through that midfield like knife on butter. Even a top class attacking coach like Pep wouldn't be able to make that midfield click, even he needs a Fernandinho.

On paper James may be a much better player, but for Inter right now, I would take Kante over him any day of the week.

You think that Barella, Tonali or Brozovic cannot do that job? You think you would rate Fernandinho so highly if he wasn't playing next to De Bruyne and David Silva and against mostly crap PL midtable and lower table competition? The same Fernandinho that was exposed defensively in the 2014 World Cup?

I never saw Conte's teams play nice football ever also his projcets never lasted long, because he loses his shit midway in to them... That's why he will never win anything important, he will never reach Mou's treble success, he doesn't have a plan B, it's all based on running, outrunning the opposition, and if we don't manage to do it... We have Sassuolo, Verona, Bologna, Roma, Fiora... We are fucking shit now after the Covid crisis, fuuucking shit!!!
It's not on our players that much, u don't need 11 superstars to win a Bologna, Roma... Fuck, No sign of any creative ideas, something new to unlock a new dimension, nothing
Wtf do they do in training I wonder

And b4 anyone puts Spallo in my face again... He isn't in the 11mil salary coach rang, so that makes Conte a bigger fraud...

well it's because they play with wariors and extracts whats the best from players but that can't last for to long...
for me Conte is the same as Simeone, with Cholo being better one and its ok we got that kind of coach in the new process, to get shit done quickly and to be that bridge betwen old and new, but for us to stay on top we need a real coach to stick for long time and to actually have a real project...
I see Conte here for 2, max 3 years to atract some playera and to put us up on the map, not more...

and as you said, it's sometimes painful to watch us play

Barella, Tonali & Brozovic may be ok as a balanced midfield, but why would you buy James to add to Eriksen only to keep both on the bench? Thats exactly the point I am making.

If you want to buy James, then forget about Tonali, instead buy Kante. Then you have a more balanced midfield. James (Eriksen), Brozovic (Sensi), Kante (Barella). Intuitively speaking, that could work. Midfields are not just about big names and creativity, balance is important. Fernandinho may not be the best midfielder in City, but the balance he brought allowed De Bryune & Silva to play more freely and made them much better as an unit.

Dude, Fernandinho used to be a forward. He's average defensively, all he does is run.

We could field a 3 man midfield with Barella or Brozovic next to Eriksen and James for example in games where we intend to keep possession. You're not going against Juventus or Real Madrid with this, but it's doable.

Which is why a coach should understand that he needs to maximize the team's ability by utilizing all his best players' strengths. If we have James, Eriksen, Barella, Brozovic, Sensi, Tonali then it takes a dufous to fuck that up and bench the best players and then whine that they don't fit his needs. Fuck his needs if he cannot deal with quality players.

You’re suggesting playing Eriksen deep in midfield? No way, the guy won’t even go into a challenge. That midfield even chasing a game is dangerous, to us.

Rafinfa rumour after barca reject celta’s offer
Honestly for 16 millions rumoured i would take him to be back up,
But we already have sensi, and i doubt both of em combined will be able to play half of the fixture

Don't have one.
I would really like that. Great, positive dude from when he was here, and we could rotate him with eriksen on the amf role. I'm not sure how much that position is our priority right now though

So we definitely should not double it down and do it all over again. :)

You guys want a worse Sensi? 16m spending on Rafinha would be 16m thrown out of the window, and I am not talking about his technical skills.

Once isn't bad enough, Rafinha torn his ACL TWICE.

I understand people want Rafinha back due to nostalgia but we already have an injury prone quality player on the bench in Sensi. We don't need another.

Interestingly he's played more minutes than both 9G and Sensi this season. If we're already committed to Sensi then there's little point.

He's basically City's most reliable CB.

Have we made a final decision on redeeming Sensi? Are we gonna pay the fee straightaway all at once in current fiscal year?

Whatever he may used to be, Fernandinho was a brilliant DM for City till last season. One of the best in the world, he was definitely world class in that position. If you think he was average defensively, perhaps you haven't watched enough of City. This season, even Rodri hasn't been able to replace Fernandinho adequately and that has been one of City's problems. Fernandinho now plays as Centre Back, though at 35 he hasn't been able to perform that role well. But he has done better as a CB than Otamendi or Stones. At 35 as a CB. Not good defensively? You gotta be kidding.

A midfield 3 of Eriksen + James + Barella/Brozovic is shite IMO, even though individually I rate all these midfielders highly. That midfield will get clobbered off the ball. No coach can make that work. Balance in a team is important, this is not fantasy football.

Its not about minutes played this season. Its about risk of reoccurance. One wrong turn and he becomes another Giuseppe Rossi. I love Rafinha but no thanks, unless he is free.
