Don't have one.
I understand people want Rafinha back due to nostalgia but we already have an injury prone quality player on the bench in Sensi. We don't need another.

All your points are valid. For me its only nostalgia, I m guilty. :D

Whatever he may used to be, Fernandinho was a brilliant DM for City till last season. One of the best in the world, he was definitely world class in that position. If you think he was average defensively, perhaps you haven't watched enough of City. This season, even Rodri hasn't been able to replace Fernandinho adequately and that has been one of City's problems. Fernandinho now plays as Centre Back, though at 35 he hasn't been able to perform that role well. But he has done better as a CB than Otamendi or Stones. At 35 as a CB. Not good defensively? You gotta be kidding.

A midfield 3 of Eriksen + James + Barella/Brozovic is shite IMO, even though individually I rate all these midfielders highly. That midfield will get clobbered off the ball. No coach can make that work. Balance in a team is important, this is not fantasy football.

I wouldn't want us to spend a dime on Fernandinho. He's playing a role, he's not installing any quality. Others can fulfill that role.
You think someone like Barella could not be sufficient in that role? What special skills does Fernandinho possess that make him such a great player there?

Fernandinho is an expensive role player. A great role player, but just that. A role player. He is there to allow players like De Bruyne, David Silva and Bernardo Silva to coexist in a midfield.

We have Brozovic and Barella that can also do that. You are basically saying that if we want to play with Eriksen and James in the same lineup we need Fernandinho and that our other starting calibre players are inadequate to fulfill that role.

Rafinha for 15mln is no brainer. We desperately need some quality depth in the midfield if we want to fight in all competition next season. I prefer to risk 15mln for Rafinha instead to have Vecino, Valero, and Gagsi as back up.

rafinha couldn't even make a difference in a team which almost got relegated due to his constant injuries.

Nice try. Re Fernandinho I am just correcting your statement that he was average defensively. He wasn't. He was world class at his role in his day. Now he is 35, his career is over. No one is "basically saying" we need Fernandinho at 35.

All I am saying is that your dream midfield 3 of James, Eriksen & Brozovic will be shite off the ball. We will need a top DM to balance the midfield, maybe someone like Kante. I suspect you know exactly what I am saying, so you are just doing your usual of changing the topic or put words in my mouth.

In an interview with Spox and DAZN, Robin Gosens discusses the rumors linking him to top clubs in Italy.

“It is a great honor to be linked to teams like Juventus and Inter. It makes me very proud and understand that I am doing the right things this season. Am I worth €30M? I don’t know. I find it hard to understand but on the other hand Atalanta know that I am having incredible statistics this season and so these numbers will be difficult to beat next season. So from an economic standpoint, it might be understandable to sell me.”

This guy ain't stupid. Understands even himself it might be a fluke season for himself. I doubt anyone is buying him for straight 30m€, with some bonuses maybe.

Well didn’t we pay for Dalbert around 30m? And for Lazaro 20+m? Signing Gosens fir 30m is very reasonable. At least he is serie a and CL tested not the clowns we signed. I don’t Marotta to sign him because I know Conte would still prefer to have Candreva and Young on our flanks than anyone else.

Dalbert was around 20m€+ +bonuses which probably we weren't activated, at least not all. Hard to see anyone paying 30m€ for Gosens in COVID year, unless some sales appear (Inter/Juve).

El Chiringuito linking us to James Rodriguez, for about 30m. Benfica, Milan, United also interested.

I'd laugh but they nailed the Hakimi rumour before anybody else so, who knows.

If James is available at 30 million i would sign him in a heartbeat. after years of our shitty midfield it would be a luxury to have both Eriksen and Rodrigues in the squad. they can play together behind a lone striker supported by 3 CM.

---Lukaku/Lautaro--

Eriksen---Rodrigues--

Barella--Brozovic---Tonali

we would dominate opponents midfield . the absence of solid DM is now compensated with more control of possesion and tempo.

Yet in 2014 he was the main weakness of Brazil's defensive unit. He was never great defensively, he just had the effort. Sometimes that's all you need when you play for a juggernaut.

You are basically overrating a player and his defensit effect while downplaying the possibility of two technical midfielders being able to play together just because we don't have him or someone similar.

The midfield is by far where we need the most reinforcements. The defense is ok, the attack needs a fourth forward.

The midfield, on the contrary, lacks in quality.

Honestly, if I had to make one name, that would be kulusevski. That ship has sailed, but anyway, that's the kind of midfielder(s) we need.

He would have been brilliant. He's going to be such a good player.

Kulusevski is not a midfielder, and doesn't fit in the current tactics.

We need a DM, and a player in the SMS mold. We need to get rid of Gags and Vecino for sure. Valero too, but he can be a good backup.

Romano - Inter are ready to start talks with Tottenham for Tanguy Ndombele. He’s a real target as midfielder for Antonio Conte. The two clubs will also consider some swap deals on next weeks - good relationship after Eriksen deal.

Perisic + some money for Ndombele is my guess.

I have a bad feeling Ndombele will be Conte's new Bakayoko. I am ok with sending Perisic but don't you dare touch Brozovic.

Perisic would be great for a swap deal or vecino.

Marotta and levy penny pinch them selfs for a month, and the result is great relationship. They probably bonded and shit
