Do we need another winger-striker-offensive midfielder? i thought we needed a replacement to useless Vecino-Gagliardini

generally when I watch this kid I can easily understand why he is considered as midfielder for Conte. His passes are really high class and it reminds me a playmaker such as Oezil or Luis Alberto. I think he would fit well and would be nice Sensi replacement, while Sensi can also replace Brozović in regista role at times.
And when you have a 19 years old player it's not a problem to convert him to play in different position. He has no bad habits and he's eager to learn, so it should be easy process (not like a Perisić, who was too old to make him left wingback). And moreover, I read some articles about Kulusevski that he used to play in central midfield, I think it was in junior Sweden national team (not really sure), so it's not a problem for him.

And it's also worth to mention that Sensi was playing much deeper in Sassuolo, but Conte was able to convert him to more offensive player, so it's not a big deal when given player has necessary abilities for given position.

30M is a bargain. Politano + cash and Atalanta will surely accept.

Why would either party surely accept? Politano would have the same problem at Atalanta that he does here. They play either a 352 like us or a 3412 with an AM. He has no place in either of Atalanta's formations. He doesn't have the positional versatility or technical ability that Gomez and Ilicic bring to their game, so he wouldn't contest them for a spot. I see no reason for Politano and Atalanta to want each other.

Not flaming or anything but I have no idea how €30m for Kulusevski is a "bargain" either. €30m for someone who's played 12 games of Serie A football  That's not a bargain, that's a massive fucken gamble IMO.

Every year there are these breakout kids who get sold for obscene prices after literally nothing but a glimpse of promise. All too often, the buying clubs end up eating a dick like we did with Gagliardini. Like Milan did with Conti, Kessie and Piatek. Like Roma did with Iturdbe. Napoli with Verdi etc.

How does one make the distinction that Kulusevski will follow in the footsteps of Icardi and Dybala, and not Destro and Piatek? That's impossible to distinguish.

Just to clarify, I'm not even against signing the player. Just saying it's always a significant risk spending big on these guys off the back of one or even half a good season.

We'll see where things stand at the end of the season, or in January. Either way the sensible thing seems to be to loan him straight back to Parma again if we do end up buying him from Atalanta at some point.

This reminds me of Zapata's rumored transfer, and how atalanta were just supposed to give in and help us. They're not assholes, they are just managing their assets properly. Atalanta's form has carried over from last season, and theyve managed serie A pretty well considering the added CL games. Politano + money for kulusevski makes no tactical sense unless Parma joins in to make this some ungodly amateur 3 way swap, where we yet again end up taking it on the chin.

Why would it not? Illicic is almost done and so is Gomez. This is the best time to ship Politano to Atlanta.

Can someone explain the De Paul interest to me? What position would he play in Conte's system?
Thanks Kings.

I think De Paul played as a midfielder in a 4-3-3 for Argentina NT, right?

There is no way in which spending 30m for Kulusevski can be considered a bargain. He is 19, and has only played a handful of games. I would like to see more before even judging him. However I do understand if Atalanta's ask is around 30m for this kid. Any kid who is having his first breakout season comes with kind of price tag these days, its a sellers market. A few years ago that used to be 10m, now its around 30m. Thats just the way it is.

I guess I would trust Marotta's call on something like this. If Mr Miser is convinced that a kid with little experience is worth spending 30m, maybe there is something there. But its very unlikely. We spent less on Sensi and he was more experienced and Italian.

IMO the signing of a talented kid (Kulusevski, Tonali, etc) can wait till the summer. In January we need a midfielder who as good as guarantees quality. If we don't buy such a player, Conte will just run Brozovic, Barella & Sensi to the ground.

Unless Conte intends to switch to 3-4-2-1, i believe he wants De Paul for the SS role. I don't think De Paul can be one of the three midfielders in Conte's 3-5-2.

I could see De Paul developing into a pretty capable LWB but that's about it. Maybe a utility player when needed. Don't think he offers enough in attack to play in one of those positions unless it's as a sub or against weaker opponents.
We need a capable CM more than De Paul right now.

There is no way that this guy can be full/wing back.

He’s perfect example of South American talented player, technically gifted but nightmare for coaches tactically.

They’ll use him like winger, attacking midfielder, lazy central midfielder etc. Maybe Conte will manage to do something with him but I wouldn’t risk it.

On the topic of midfielders I've seen we're linked with Xhaka from Arsenal

I don't believe for a second this rumour is true but to people who might entertain the idea let me just say that Arsenal fans hated Xhaka, their captain, long before this subbing off incident because he is just flat out shit.

Is there a player that looks good at Arsenal?

Xhaka was beast in Germany and very solid for NT, must be a reason why he’s captain on Arsenal and Switzerland.

If there is a chance to loan with option. Why not?

I am not optimistic about getting a young midfielder in january as long as dying Valero is still here.

Xhaka was never ever a beast. He had mediocricity written all over him since his Monchengladbach days. I remember we were linked to him back in the day, i had an argument with albanian friend. He rated him highly, i didnt at all. Should have had that bet with him lol, that he would flop at big team.

I wouldnt want the fucker as even a rotation option. Id rather get Dzemaili to be a backup for that position, if we want swiss midfielder.

I remembered that we are linked to Exequiel Palacios last season before he was injured. Whats the odd of signing him now compared to de paul or kuluvesky?

He's been playing lately. Not sure if he will start tomorrow in the CL final.
Cannot speak of odds but I can only say he is much more suited in our current system than those two. And definitely has a higher ceiling than both.

Palacios will start tomorrow. Versus Barbosa.

Fucked up that Inter plays at the same time.
