Pretty unreal how difficult grandmaster Conte has made it to form our defense for this year. We had the number one defense last year. Keep everyone, form a fucking wall at the back, and let Hakimi and Perisic push forward to help our offense improve from last year to this year. It's surreal we're about to have Kolarov, Darmian, and Dambro running consistent minutes at the back.

Do some people ever stop cribbing? We only just started this season, scored 9 goals in 2 games for crying out load! Of course the defence is looking iffy. We just started the season, we had no preseason... give them some time to settle. Defences all over Europe are looking iffy. Liverpool conceded 3 goals in their first game, City just conceded 5 in a game, even Euro champs Bayern conceded 4 goals in their last game. This is a strange season, everyone is suffering due to no preseason and no fans in the stadiums. So lets not exaggerate our issues and overreact, instead lets enjoy our wins. We scored 9 goals in 2 games, it doesn't get much better than this.

And what do you mean it doesn't get better than this? It WAS better than this right up until we made things difficult for ourselves by forcing Godin out and replacing him with trash like Kolarov and soon to be Darmian.

That's like shooting yourself in the foot, then winning $1,000 and being like "wow, I just won a thousand bucks, it doesn't get much better than this!" Sure, you won $1,000 but you didn't exactly need to shoot yourself in the foot now, did you.

We've improved our squad overall, but the defense looks weaker it must be said. Losing Godin and replacing him with Kolarov and Darmian doesn't give me a lot of confidence we'll be able to defend well enough against good sides, especially if key players get injured.

I think all this obsession about signing Kante needs to stop and we go for a solid defender. Even with Skriniar staying we are worse defensively than last season and we will be exposed even more once we face stronger teams. With injuries to defenders we'll be at risk of losing points even against easy opponents and we regret those missing points at the end of season.

We surely enjoy our wins but we are also Inter fans from way back, we are anticipating. We are anticipating this thing won't last and we need to really fix the balance. It wasn't honestly not that close that we would have simply lost to Fiorentina at home. Benevento are newcomers and they were utter shit, honestly Brescia level shit.

So while we are enjoying these victories, it's not natural for me and apparently some others too to indeed sign kumbayaa together in the forum, we rather discuss the problems we still have. Because there are problems and they are not minor details to be fixed IMO.

With Skriniar our starting defensive line is ok... Without Godin we lost an experienced substitute, but we've got Kolarov...

We have to confirm Ranocchia as fallback, otherwise we really have to buy someone else (i don't know if we are really interested in Smalling...)

Yeah, but as we are keeping Rano and adding Darmian, it's not possible to add anymore. This Darmian fiasco is completely useless. We should just add Alonso on loan and add real backup CB.

How long did it take Godin to adjust to Conte's system and start producing decent performances... 9 months? You are judging Kolarov after 2 games and Darmian even before he has joined the club. Don't you think you may be overreacting a bit?

I don't like the Kolarov and Darmian transfers either, but lets not rule out the possibility that they could end up being useful and versatile bench players for us. You gotta have some faith on Marotta & Co, our track record on transfers has been seriously good lately.

Well I don't like this argument because we kept conceding chances all season long. But, we had the best defence of the Serie A last season and Godin played the 3rd most minutes. So adjusting or not adjusting, we were after all pretty good even with Godin.

Let's not take a track record of Marotta & co to this conversation okay. It will get derailed so fast. Warning to others also.

Surely you're not serious.

Godin is/was a world class defender. We know he knows how to defend.
Kolarov and Darmian have NEVER BEEN good defenders; it would be generous to even call them average defenders.

So of course, I would give an adjustment period to Godin. No level of adjustment matters for the other 2; they are just not good defenders.

If Alonso is available on loan, then not going for him is a terrible mistake. It looked promising but in the end squad depth isn't that good. We're going into the season with Ranocchia and two fb as backup options at cb, Darmian and Young as backup wb, Gagliardini as 4th option in double pivot and Pinamonti as our 4th forward. Not good enough.
