I don't really like talking about future keepers. It's not out of sentiment, but due to the fact that Handanovic still remains, easily, one of the best keepers in the world, and talk of replacing him is premature. Essentially, by the time Handanovic retires, which will be at the end of next season at the absolute earliest, we don't know what the market will be like. We don't know what talents will have emerged or plateaued.

That said, from all the names that have come up here and there, I'm most impressed by Musso. I think he's better than Meret or Strakosha, and certainly levels above Cragno or Gollini.

From what I've seen of Radu, I don't know if he has what it takes to be an elite keeper. I'm not saying he won't, just that it's too early. Radu reminds me a little bit of Donnarumma to an extent: they both have great reflexes and leaping ability, but are both let down by occasional poor positioning and a weakness with their feet.

Personally I'll be keeping a closer eye on Musso moving forward. But I suspect Handanovic will be around for minimum 2 or 3 years longer, which is fine by me.

Handanovic can be around but IMO he can be shifted to 1B keeper at some point, a bit what Juve did with Buffon and Sesni (not gonna try to write that name). He's gonna sign the extension which will keep him here for at least 2 more seasons.

I think we gonna go with Radu next season because Handa is at top still, no reason trying to shift him anywhere yet. Musso comes in play next summer (at the earliest) if Radu is simply not enough, and probably won't be. Though we can still run with Handa-Radu for second season if Handa keeps on rocking. Then the replacement comes in play 2022 summer, if Radu hasn't developed enough.

I feel there's zero reason at any point for Inter to go after young top top keeper which cost over 50m€. We can as well buy these 25+ keepers like we've done before. Julio Cesar arrived when he was 25, Handanovic arrived when he was 28. Serie A has good keepers almost all the time and we can let them develop and once they are good enough and it's the end of the cycle of our keeper, we can switch to one of them (or overseas option, like we did with JC).

Exactly. If reports are to be believed, the plan seems to be for Berni to leave, Padelli demoted to 3rd keeper, and Radu to come is as #2.

Exactly how much of this Buffon X Szczesny (ludicrous name btw) dynamic we follow is questionable and dependent on how good Radu is vs. how much Handanovic declines. But either way, even at the end of all of this, Musso will still 'only' be 28 - the same age Handanovic was, and nicely developed.

Because Barca's on the fall.

Funny thing is Barca's fall is what we are trying to achieve. I love inter to death but lets not pretend that we are a better team than barca.

in what world do you blame that shit show on the keeper? Bayern had 26 shots.
I mean it was a bad game, but I don't think a good performance would have mattered all that much.

It's a joke.

But he was terrible in one thing he's supposed to excel which is distribution. Tactics surely and Bayern's pressing, plus the pressure in general of being there under those circumstances. But it was an alarming performance in that regard.

We are not yet, but Barca is on the fall, we're on the rise.

You can't tell me you would rather be a barca fan now. They are in despair and they understand the gravity of situation their club is at.

Pretty easy to be on "the rise" when we've been in a shithole for the last decade. Even at our prime we were barely better than Barca. Teams like Barca and Real will always have their appeal that top of the top players tend to want to play for them.

What? I've never had this mind of id rather be another team's fan because that's useless way of thinking lol and now that you like that kind of statement, you cant tell me that any sane barca fans would rather be an inter fan right now? Lol

Why is that even relevant in terms of this discussion? Talk was about why would Ter Stegen switch to Inter?

Wow CafeCordoba, we just had this discussion 10 posts before. Why start with this again. Every Barca fan is saying MATS is the only one performing as good as they expect.

And when he sees that instead of investing in defence, Barca buys Dembele, Griezmann and Coutinho, wouldn't Ter Stegen maybe think if he can continue his career at a club, that is building a great team, where the club isn't retarded? Inter definitely fits that description. We could convince him.

i thought the goalkeeping was disgraceful in their loss to bayern. He was shockingly statue like on many of the goals.

He was also terrible playing out from the back. Must have given the ball straight back to Bayern about 90% of the time.
This is actually quite an under rated part of our game. Handanovic has improved tenfold since we started trying it (helped by the 352 formation also).

That may be true. I'd still take him in a heartbeat if he was available though. Top 5 keeper in the world and will be for a very long time imo.

Obalk .... Anyone Atletico Madrid wants from our team + money. Has the same buy out clause as Lautaro.

Other than that.... I don't see a better keeper than Handa. Especially one from a team worse than ours that would be willing to come.

Keep Inter goal Slovenian. Interesting I see one of our old reject players Vid Belec is their 2nd GK

I'd put Handa in the top 10 currently. I don't think we need to change for at least 2 seasons. Oblak and Ter Stegen would both be excellent heirs at 27 and 28 respectively.

Inter and Napoli have held talks over Alex Meret according to a report from Italian broadcaster SportItalia, which was aired a short time ago.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has spoken with Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis over the Italian national team goalkeeper regarding signing Meret next summer.

The Nerazzurri club would like to bring Meret to the club to be the long-term replacement for current number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and Meret’s agent Federico Pastorello, who Inter have great relations with, could be key in a deal being reached. 23-year-old Meret, who is currently under contract with Napoli until the end of the 2022/23 season, is viewed as one of the best young Italian goalkeepers out there at the moment. During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, the former Udinese player made 29 appearances across all competitions. He conceded 37 goals and managed to keep a total of seven clean sheets in the process.
I know majority here prefer Musso over Meret. I guess we were asking for a price. Knowing ADL asking price, we might go for Musso.

There was a time I would love to see Meret at Inter but I am not so sure anymore. He was very disappointing last season. He's still young so he could recover from it but I have my doubts if he's the right guy for post-Handa era.

Edit: The rumour about Meret is from Criscitiello so it's probably bs. He never gets anything right about Inter.
