Honestly these are the kind of names we should be linked with for post Perisic but i don't think they are realistic considering our finances. Few things about the Bundesliga guys for those who haven't watched them.

Sosa: He was great last season and finished the season with 10 assists. This season he has been inconsistent and this is the result of two factors imo:

- Stuttgart are having a horrific season sitting at 17th place
- The absence of Austrian giant Kalajdzic who was the main recipient of his crosses

He's very good going forward, his crossing is great but he needs to work a lot on his defense and his positioning. I would definitely take him as a backup with an experienced player ahead of him but i don't think he's ready to start for Inter. Also i can't see Stuttgart selling him for less than 20-25m unless they get relegated.

Angelino: One of the best attacking wingbacks in the world. Good passing, excellent crossing, fast, high work rate, great stamina. Defence is his biggest weakness but he has worked a lot on this since he left Man City and he kinda makes up for it with his decent positioning. Bastoni would have to stay behind with Angelino in front of him else we would have a big problem from their side. The biggest issue with Angelino is i can't see Leipzig selling him for less than 30-35m (maybe even more).

No idea how much truth there is to it, but yeah, I’m sorry, that’s not the way to go.

I’m a massive fan of Gosens, but if we’re strapped for cash - which all signs point to - we shouldn’t spend it in the one position where there are other, smarter opportunities available. Renew Perisic or get Kostic for 10 in the summer, and we’re golden.

Gosens a year ago would’ve been my wettest of dreams, but he’s barely touched a blade of grass all year, and he keeps having set-backs.
Sure, he could turn out well, but his injuries worry me.

We’ve got way more urgent needs, both right now but definitely also in the summer - strikers, depth in midfield, De Vrij replacement (?)… none of that will be cheap, and with our finances and owners, spending a presumably big, big portion on that right now on a ‘statement’ signing that will no doubt fall flat next to Comisso in his own car personally driving Vlahovic down to Turin anyway.

Does Atalanta in the last 6-7 years sell to Serie A if it's not damaged goods or average bums that are overhyped?

Only Kessie to Milan sort of worked out and arguably Bonaventura was decent enough, both for Milan. Bastoni doesn't really count as he barely played there.

Cristante, Gagliardini, Mancini, Ibanez, Conti, Petagna, Kurtic, Barrow...

I don't know. Gosens would have been a very good name to have, but it feels like he's not all that so he may very well end up here. I don't see any other teams interested and he's managed to get capped by Germany. No Bundesliga interest at all?

I wonder if Atalanta accepts a loan+ deal, it'd be telling. Either their finances are worse than ours, which cannot be possible, or there's something they don't like in Gosens. They seem to not care about wing backs that much, they can replace them easily.

100% agreed. The fact that we're making attempts at Gosens, knowing FULL WELL that he would cost upwards of €20m, indicates that we have some money. Whatever money we suddenly decided to offer for Gosens we should've been doubling and offering to Fiorentina from months ago.

As you said, if Perisic leaves at the end of next season Gosens would be fantastic, but we don't need Gosens right now in January, not even remotely. We do however, need another midfielder and forward.

This disgusting Vlahovic deal seems to be finalized as we speak. Seems they've agreed on a pathetic €67m + bonuses. It seems like a lot of money but just wait a few hours - we'll see that the deal is eventually structured unreasonably favorably for juventus.

I'm expecting the final deal to be a loan period with a small loan fee in the region of 10m to be paid now, with the rest to be paid in manageable instalments over the next 20 years, probably with a player heading the other way to offset a significant chunk of the transfer fee. i.e. something we could've feasibly managed as well.

Simply too little, too late. I wonder if Marotta can still call up Rocco and offer him 100m to be paid over 10 years with 20 youngsters going to Fiorentina?

I think that the fact that Comissos hate towards Inter is personal (because of Zhang Jr. judging from his interview) has to be the reason we are not dealing with them. I am pretty sure that following those never ending cheap shots at them, the Zhang have maybe told our directors to back up from Fiorentina.

As for Gosens: he would be a sensible choice in my opinion. He is a proven Serie A player which is a plus in comparison to Kostic or Angelino. While both of them definitely proved their quality in the Bundesliga, you don’t know what to expect in the Serie A. Adding to that we would weaken Atalanta which is basically Marotta‘s signature move.

I understand our strategy as the following: we get Caicedo as a back up target man. Getting Gosens on the left flank enables us to use Perisic as an alternative for the second striker position in case of a Sanchez or Correa emergency. Furthermore it generates competition on the left flank and puts Perisic under pressure regarding his contractual situation, demonstrating him that he is not indispensable.
The last deal would contain a midfielder if we get rid of either Sensi or Vecino. Best case would be getting rid of Vecino and getting Frattesi on loan with option/obligation which is too much to ask for I guess, so I see us getting someone on a dry loan there.

I still don't understand why we're so hooked on bringing another player for a position we can already play 3 players in Perisic, Darmian and Dimarco. If we have that much money, make some smart moves with it for the other positions we lack depth and quality.

I like Gosens, but he's been sidelined for several months and he's not exactly 20. We must access his fitness and injury situation before spending that much for him. I rule Vlahovic out for us, as the cunt is Juve bound. But we have more urgent needs than spending all our money for a position we're already packed till the end of season.

Why are we signing Gosens??? He is injured, played like 5 matches, THE SAME SHITTY hamstring injury Correa has dealt with the whole season!! And he costs 30+ millions€ . If we are doing this because of Vlahovic to Juve and we are panicking I really don't understand this transfer.

Just lets not sign a broken player that is no use also Perisic and Dimarco can handle left side until the end of season. I can understand if Gosens price is 15M€ because of his recent unreliabilty, but it will not. A trojan 30M€ mistake.

Use this money to sign Frattesi Ffs! Already in Jan!

Gosens has pros and cons compared to Kostic and Angelino.

Pros:

  • He's Serie A proven. For me it isn't that important as long as the quality is there but for some people it's golden.
  • He's more balanced than Kostic and Angelino which could allow Bastoni to continue joining the attack while it could be an issue with the other two
  • High contribution in attack in the right system
  • Brings athletism which we badly lack
Cons:
  • A Gasperini player with everything that entails
  • lacks in creativity and technique compared to other two
  • injury prone
I think his performances with Germany in the last Euro could give us a better perspective about Gosens. When Portugal gave him space, he was devastating and tore their defence apart. But when Hungary pressed high, he was shit and he couldn't beat opponents on 1vs1. Another issue i have with Gosens is he looks to me closer to Dumfries than Perisic. He may have many assists but he isn't a creator and i think we need a creator on the left side. Atalanta were mostly starting their attacks from the right with Hateboer and Gosens found himself in advantageous positions due to the system.

Gazzetta report today Atalanta want 35m for Gosens. That's insane money for Gosens. We could get Bremer and Kostic with the same sum. We shouldn't make a panic buy as a response to Juve getting Vlahovic. If money wasn't an issue i would go for Angelino who's 3 years younger. If we have limited funds, which is probably the case, better sign Kostic at a low cost and spend big on attack.

I was just about to ask what happened to him coz last time I watched him was on euros, and he was a beast for germany, but that's a huge fuckin red flag. Even worst if we plan him to be our main option next year, coz one thing I appreciate about perisic is that he is super fit, and you can always rely on him.

Imagine after perisic having a left wing correa and someone like di marco has to play the majority of the games on that side...

So for me, this dude is only worth a risk if we are planing to keep someone like perisic on that left side.

Fun fact; al three of them played in the dutch league. I know, i know, it's been a while and they have developed a lot. All three are very different players imo.

Kostic used to be an attacker and is the most 'Perisic like' player. With him on the left wing we need a more defensive minded right winger to keep the balance imo. His costs are the lowest and he is a real danger in the attack. Assists for fun, real good technic and scores some goals too.

Gosens is a jack of all trades. More comparable to Dumfries (a lot older and at the moment a far better player tho). But he doesn't really stand out at everything imo. A typical Atalanta wingback, runs up and down the whole game and is a good goal scorer. Kind of stable in defence too.

Angelino i like the most as a player. But he's also the most expensive one. Good technic, good cross, good dribble etc. But also the one i doubt if he would suit our system.

We are strangely fixated on that left wing. Must be inzaghi specific request...

No Telles. He is a great attacking fullback, but not a wingback. I would love Kostic. We need someone with more technique, creativity. Someone who can take on defenders. None of the others can do this. And neither can our RWBs.

LOL now I believe there are smoke screens to deflect our real target. No way Man lets him go, he’s only LB back they have and Luke Shaw is injured.
We had inquired about him earlier and they were adamant about having an obligation at the end of the loan spell. Pretty confident we're not considering him anymore but if we run out of players to look at, he's one of them.

For the time being we're concentrating on Gosens, should be done by tomorrow if Atalanta is reasonable.

Perisic is leaving and if he's not, we're telling him that we have a replacement ready and we're not going to be offering him 6m to stay, but more of a Handanovic situation.

And at the moment apart from Dimarco and Darmian (who's not really confident on the left side) no one can back Perisic up. It's the only position we wanted to reinforce but Correa's injury made us look for attackers as well. It's good to see that our priority is a potentially starting WBL and not a quick fix loanee that wouldn't provide much help, like that Gladbach dude.
