It's not about who is better than Lukaku in our current squad, it's about making smart business and not panic buying. Spending a big amount for the current Lukaku is not smart business. We don't have the same coach, same gameplan or even the same version of Lukaku who flourished under Conte anymore. And who is currently better than Lukaku in our current squad? Even better who is better than any player we're currently linked with? Scammacca, Thuram?
If the money is right, surely we trust a player to be professional and get himself in a position to succeed. He was happy at Inter, and did brillantly for us. And I think he would fit into Simone's system. Dry loan or not, but if we can bring in on the cheap he would be a major step up to what we currently have.
And it's not about who is better or a bigger name than Lukaku among the rumored names either. With the state of our forwards this season we are still the highest scoring team in the league. Forwards are not just there to score goals. Goals can be scored by several players in the team, not just forwards. Forwards need to score goals AND function properly in the team. If we find the right players without spending big we can improve the team and our forward line. That's up to the management to find those players and not just linger on certain names who are overpriced and not exactly convincing, like Scamacca.
We need several additions to the team and we don't have enough money to spend heavy. So it's need to be done as loan and free deals, or low cost options. If Lautaro gets sold and Sanchez leaves, Dybala as a free deal and Jovic as a loan deal should be enough to replace them.
I'll take back Satriano as the 5th forward as well and spend what we have on Bremer, 3 new midfielders and a back up for the defence line.
