What about this? Brozovic is assumably going to play 90% of games next season, so we need Vice-Brozo of course, cheap alternative, out of contract...

Matic?

Good in the dressing room, championship mentality, experienced all levels, plays little can fill in when needed?

Matic will be 34 in august... Last thing this team needs is more dinosaur backups. I also doubt he will be that cheap in terms of wages tbh.

He will no doubt want atleast a 2 year contract as well, probably with an option for a 3rd.

But i suppose Inter has made this error of signing old finished has-beens quite a few times in the past, so it just might happen.

I want Paredes if we can make it happen. He’s the best vice-Brozo we could realistically get. We would still need another mid who isn’t Agoume tho. Veretout is an interesting idea but I don’t think it will work out that way.
Paredes would be great but no chance he will come to Inter to sit on the bench and his salary demands will be pretty high.

Fair but I think he could compete with Barella and Hakan as well.
Not sure about that. I always saw Paredes as a regista. Then again we could pull the double regista trick with Paredes like we did last year with Brozovic and Eriksen.

His wage demand will be significantly lower that Paredes for example. I don't know how serious is our interest in Kamara, but he will want decent salary as well and starting spot most probably. I like Agoume, but it will be a mistake to bring him back only as a backup of Brozo. Especially if we get Frattesi. The other rumored option is Veretout. He will command some transfer fee, but his wage should be lower than Matic's. But he is not so good defensively. And I don't see sense having both him and Frattesi potentially. That is the reason I prefer Matic.

I'm of the view that we need a defensive specialist in midfield. We're often exposed in middle especially in counter attack situations. Matic and Paredes are too slow and passive. We need someone dynamic who can tackle. Barella is an adequate regista in case Brozo has to sit out a game or 2.

could we switch target from Frattesi to Maxime Lopez? imo we need more Brozo kind of players and Maxime performance deliver that well.

Mmm, disagree on the Barella bit - he’s wasted there. But yeah, we do need a CDM of some kind, but other than the names already mentioned I’m not sure who to suggest.

I’m all about Maxime Lopez as a Brozovic backup, I also would have loved Ricci but he really needs to keep starting to improved.

Bringing back Agoume or trying to sign Kamara on a free are the moves in my opinion. Baccin tried to go watch Agoume and Satriano yesterday but Agoume didn’t play. If he’s not ready we should be going after Kamara imo. The issue is he’s not dumb and knows we have Brozovic so he will be a back up.

Have you seen Matic lately? He can barely run anymore, he is almost 34 and utterly finished.

And Veretout might be worse defensively, but atleast he can run and he makes a good amount of assists and goals as well.

As far as Frattesi goes, Inter are not signing him for the absurd fee Sas wants, that much is certain. He also not as good as Veretout in any case.

Signing a 34 year old Matic would an incredibly bad idea. He is finished. Inter needs to stop wasting money for the salary of dinosaurs and Matic is exactly that. He is even more finished than Vidal was when he joined inter.

With how limited we are financially I wouldn't mind looking into Matic. He'd likely be happy to be a rotation player as that's all he's capable of being at his age. And he could win trophies here which he couldn't do at united. I wouldn't say he's finished. When I watch him at united he still has good technical ability and a willingness to win the ball. The issue is he looks far worse than he really is because the team around him is absolutely horrendous.

Matic is so slow it's like he's running backwards. Fuck that.

How? It'll be like 5 games a season, just to give Brozo rest. And it would be good to round off his game a bit, make him more complete. He's already one of the best crossers on the team and has good vision. he just needs to improve his positioning and awareness. And temperament.

I’m all about Maxime Lopez as a Brozovic backup
Sass's best midfielder in my eyes. But i got something against men that look like 12 year olds.

My biggest concern is that one or two our core mids get long injury and we don’t have players to cover them. Can Matic still play 70-90 minutes twice a week if needed? We have been lucky with injuries at midfield and all our core mids have iron lungs! So atleast 5 good mids is essential and maybe Matic would be that 6th? But what salary he wants?

If we can get Matic with same wage as Sensi and he is our 6th mid, I’m ok with that, anything more and I would hesitate!

But there are some positives of player like Matic if he comes with reasonsble salary.

Speed is not what Matic is known, but positioning and passing is his bread and butter. Matic is not Pirlo but he was master at positioning and passing, but lacked speed. Pirlo was awsome in Serie A, but I think would have strugled in PL? Serie A tempo is somewhat slower than in PL and in limited role he would be fine. He would also bring us that needed height.

Also Vidal and Vecino are leaving and we need some experience and Matic surely has that. 70% of the work is done during the week and 30% is shown at games. Thats why its so important to have these veterans with players like Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, Agoume.

So this transfer depends on money and how important role he has? Of course I would want to see someone like Kamara, but there is lot of competition for him and we are on limited budget. I can’t see us purchase two new mids, so something has to give?

I think people many times react to whole teams performance and can’t see past that and think all players suck in those teams who are under performing? Lukaku, Sanchez, Darmian was mocked, before they came to Inter…

Bench like Frattesi, Sensi, Matic, Gags/Agoume… yeah it’s not the best but it’s slightly better than Vidal, Vecino, Gags we currently have.

Instead of Matic, I would much rather get the perpetually injured Sensi back and get him to play regista as back up. He has the passing ability.

If we have some leeway in our wage budget, then another option could be Jorginho. He may be available on a cheap this summer (1 year left on contract, doesn't start anymore), and he could actually rotate Brozovic.

Loan with option sounds good to me. Not sure if Atletico will go for that after just throwing down decent money for him last summer though.
Atletico sure 100% give De Paul if we give them Lautaro :yao:
