Pavard can compete with Matip and Konate for sure, but that would be a very low bar to be considered the center of a project.

Pavard couldn't compete with Upamecano who has not exactly been good, catastrophic even on a bad day. At least Araujo and Christensen have been great for Barca.

Meh, pavard or nacho is totally irrelevant imo, if darmian works for us in that position, whoever comes out of those two will be fine.

I think it's much smarter to spend whatever money we have further up the pitch, given the nature of how we play, so I can totally see why we would hesitate to pull the trigger on pavard.

It is relevant imo. Because we play more attacking football we need to sign good defenders to mask our defensive organizational deficiencies. While I agree that we should improve the wingbacks and strikers positions, the defense shouldn't be neglected.
