Yes it would be Darmian and Bellanova. I guess it would come down to how confident Inter is in Bellanova coming good. We would need to believe Bellanova can be the starter. He doesn’t seem ready at the moment but neither was Dumfries this time last year.

Bellanova's experience is nowhere near Dumfries'. Dumfries was already NT starter and had CL experience on top of his years as starter in Eredivisie. He was also their captain for few years. There's really no comparison between the two.

Kostic.... just give him a 3 year deal with option for a 4th that only we can activate. Players play for a while in the Italian league. He is a cheap option for 2 seasons till we rebuild and can buy a better young option in the future.

I don't want a 19 or 21 year old here.... why not just give the same shot to a youth player and just not spend any money?

Yes I’m fully aware. I was one of the posters hoping for us to sign Dumfries as the Hakimi replacement last summer. I’ve already spoken about why I’d prefer we sell Dumfries over Skriniar.

I get that they’re experience levels are not comparable, however I prefer Darmian at RWB in the squad instead of LWB back up or some adjunct CB, that leaves the backs LWB position open. With Gosens injury record I think we have a potential hole there bigger than RWB with Darmian/Bellanova. That my opinion. I would totally be fine with signing Singo because he’s a great talent. I just doubt we can develop two young RWB simultaneously.

The good news is Bellanova is technically on loan so if we did buy Singo we could send Raoul back hypothetically if he doesn’t perform. Not sure what the clauses are for the loan.

Easy to say but our mercato should not have been in this place - in the defence department. Gosens injury seems to be scaring us; then there are still two uncertainties - Skriniar & Dumfries. I would easily let go Dumfries for a good price if it meant keeping Skriniar.

Unfortunately, it seems that we are not certain in both the wingback positions, CB & Rano backup!! Only Bastoni remains a certainty in the starting role so far.

As usual, I will be crossing my fingers awaiting until 1 September for the market to close - what else can we do?
