Yeah Thuram was born in Italy and Lazaro is currently playing there. Doesn’t seem anything unusual at all. People have nothing better to do I guess..

Isn't Buchanan vry far from Dumfries style of player? Buchanan would be like a Poor-Man Hakimi, no?

Buchanan is an elite attacking wingback. If Inzaghi's goal is to have one grinta wingback and one attacking wingback, Buchanan would be a great partner for Gosens. The flip side is that Bucanan and Dimarco could not be on the pitch at the same time.

According to Gazzetta, the Nerazzurri have already scheduled a meeting with Thuram’s entourage in January during which they will make their contract offer for the 25-year-old who was born in Parma in 1997 when his father Lilian was playing for the Ducali.

Inter will reportedly offer a €5m-a-year deal for the next five years but are aware that offers from the Premier League could be more lucrative. Newcastle are monitoring the France international and would even be ready to sign him for a low transfer fee in January.

However, according to the report, Thuram is in no rush to leave his club and is currently not considering leaving in January.
Sounds realistic, just make sure to monetize Correa by then.

€5m for Thuram is a bit insane. I understand that it's going to be a bit more since he'd be moving on a free but he's nowhere near that good. If this season he's having turns out to be a fluke and he regresses to his usual self it'd be impossible to move him on those wages. I don't think we should take such a risk before first somehow offloading Tucu.

Considering our non-ability to pay transfer fees for quality strikers. I’d pay up to 5.5 salary to have him.
There is really not too much difference do we pay transfer fee or salary. It's all annual costs. Maybe the difference is we can defer salary payments in extraordinary times (like with Covid and empty stadiums).

Like Helenio Herrera mentioned, if he regresses to his usual self, 5m net is gonna be bad, impossible to get rid of the contract.

Cost over 5 years with 5m net salary (with tax reduction) is little over 30m. It's hard to get similar level player from the market with a transfer fee and lesser salary, but with lesser salary, it's easier to get rid of the player if we want that. Of course that shouldn't be the priority of signing players to think how we can get rid of the player  but it's part of the risk mitigation.

With transfer fees, they are amortization annually so lesser money is needed if we want to sell later (if the player isn't a hit).

Yeah and my point is that's also spending money. Free agents ask more salary than what they could get in normal circumnstances so that's spending too, just differently.

The cascading effect of expensive free agents (specially from abroad with tax reduction) is the salary requests of the team mates after new guy gets big salary.
