10 years of FIFIt's all well when it ends well. We did the best we could in the mercato. In hindsight, of course.
I did dramatise myself but we actually spent the money we had and we literally did the best we could on the market once again, thanks to Don Beppe and Darth Piero.
We could only do better in midfield and we probably would've, provided we managed to offload Sensi/Agoume and buy Samardzic, but we all know how this ended.
Would be nice to have Scamacca, instead of Arnautovic, but the guy chose to lay low at Bergamo, so fuck him. Other than that, pretty solid mercato.

Forum Supporter10 years of FIFIf we had gotten Scamacca, would we have been able to afford Pavard though? I definitely wouldn’t have been opposed to a trio of LM, Thuram and Scamacca as our strikers but it seems we were destined for one “big signing” this summer and once Balogun and Scamacca were considered too costly, we turned to a position that needed strengthening. And there was none better available than Pavard.

10 years of FIFMost Diverse PosterWell yeah, some extra moves (Asllani, ..) would have to be made to get both Scamacca and Pavard, but it's not like it was impossible to do. At least at Atalanta Scamacca can start, he wouldn't at Inter. Also our mercato this summer was part fluid, part structured and prepared in advance. We knew some players were going to leave the club and apart from certain players (Thuram, probably Frattesi and Cuadrado) we did just wing it.
I'm not saying we are in dire straits because we didn't go for Scamacca, I'm just saying that I'm hugely bothered by what we paid for Arnautović and I'll probably be harping on about it for the next 12 years.
