We are playing with fire counting on Acerbi / De Vrij for another long season. Acerbi is at that age where he could fall off the cliff at any time or one injury could change his form indefinitely. De Vrij has just never been completely reliable when the pressure gets ratcheted up.

I fear we are going to regret allowing Inzaghi to keep his boys for another year in that position.

We don't even know when is Acerbi coming back.... But we also need to get a new RWB and another striker.

But CB is the only position where we clearly need a starter. So yeah, I totally agree with you. If we have to panic buy a CB in the winter, yikes

We cannot buy until we offload, its the same premise as every other market.

Currently we have Martinez, Thuram, Taremi, Arnautovic and Correa there just ain’t no space before one of two latter are out and preferably both.

We have 4 wingbacks and aren’t getting one before one leaves. Currently little indications it’s actually going to happen.

And we aren’t getting a decent central defender unless we find means to finance it. So then it will either be a player that arrives on a Bosman or a loan or we are dependent on yet another high profit sale, otherwise there no money for it, not if you want someone decent.

Doubt the management aren’t aware but it’s not like we are swimming in a pool of money… beggars can’t be choosers

LCB: Bastoni Augusto
CCB: Acerbi de Vrij
RCB: Pavard Darmian Bisseck

I believe Pavard can fit in the center so we don't have a problem at the back. That's why we are signing young players that won't be starting any time soon e.g. Perez Leoni.

But if we see Darmian as a full time CB, our problem is now at WB regardless of whether Dumfries is leaving or staying. Hopefully we can squeeze out some money for Ndoye who can both play ST and WB.

There was interest before the Euros in Jaka Bijol of Udinese. I wasn't really aware of him but he had a great tournament for Slovenia, likely to push his price up substantially.

Absolutely rather spend 20 for him than overspend for Bungiorno

Bijol is a perfect fit in the Acerbi / DeVrij role.
Was talking these days with an Italian who is Udinese fan and he was afraid of losing Bijol. He rates him that highly, plus he is young enough.

Bijol is now on a radar of many other clubs. His worth won't be 10M anymore. Bologna is one of the interested clubs.... Time to buy him for cheap was last year.

if Udinese relegated last May, Bijol would be cheaper..

but in reality, They are survive in serie a, of course Bijol price is going up insanely.

his price would have been even higher if he didn't miss half the season injured... And now his price got higher cause of the Euros... Udinese can probably get 15-20M no problem.... Especially if clubs form England get involved.

I said it last year. We should have got him, just for the future... And then we didn't and got Buchanan for pretty much as much as Bijol would have cost.
