Ex-Barcelona and Chelsea defender on Inter’s radars as Buchanan needs surgery

According to Gazzetta, Marcos Alonso, an ex-Fiorentina, Chelsea, and Barcelona player, is an option for Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio. The Spaniard has just left Barcelona after two years at the club and is available on a free transfer.
The other free option is Kurzawa, who I'd rather avoid.

So here we are, again, too many years later finally singing Alonso?

Marcos Alonso is only 33 years old, seems to perfectly fit the club policy. Hopefully he is past his back injury that severely limited his play time...

It’s likely a one year plan…

Would you rather be a man short the next 5 months because that is what we are looking into, plus he then needs to recover form, in other words first somewhere in 2025 will he be of use.

Not that I want Alonso, but it’s not like spending big for temporary fix is a great idea either.

Oaktree have not said many things since they took over, but one thing they did say was they hoped to pursue a strategy of signing younger players. I wonder how that's working out for them so far.

I reckon they can get away with the Buchanan absence by using Bisseck as a vice Dumfries. In games he might be absent as a central option because he is playing on the right, signing another CB - which they need anyway - would mitigate that.

That is their intention down the road, it takes probably a year or so before they are truly into things and push forward whatever strategy they might have

Alonso would be another Kolarov. He has always been a terrible defender and he doesn't have the legs anymore to play on the wing. Better sign no one.

Don't have one.

I wouldn't take those statements seriously, tbh. They probably just want us to keep doing what we are doing with minimal spending, and don't give a fuck about younger players, lol. At least not in the sense of some sort of strategy.

Their footballing knowledge is probably bordering with the simple fact that they know they own a popular club and want us to continue with a sell and then spend strategy. That's about it...

We should move for Hermoso since he’s a free agent now and move Bastoni to central. Hermoso was quality every time I watch him play and get bijou while he is still relatively cheap. Renew Dumfries and keep Darmian on the right for one more year then we are set.

Why would we move bastoni and diminish his offensive impact.

like he would ever get any playing time
Neither does Buchanan. That's why we either sign a starting-worthy material or nobody. At least our kid costs nothing and 'll play in his natural position.

Getting a LWB when we need a RWB is the definition of panic signing.
