There's absolutely no guarantee David is better than Thuram and if we get that gamble wrong we might be totally fucking ourselves.
I'm not overly worried about him being better than Thuram. I would make the deal because it'd bring in money for a quality CCB. Right now were gonna be stuck overpaying for a player like Bijol who just isnt good enough imo. We could probably get Scalvini with Thuram money plus what would otherwise be spent on Bijol.

Granted if we did sell Thuram that money would probably be pocketed by Oaktree and wed sign Bijol anyways.

Scalvini doesn't play as a CCB though, he's basically a 2.0 version of Bastoni in the way he's used and in what his characteristics are. CCBs usually are a little bigger although De Vrij's measurables are similar to both but we also know De Vrij gets exposed these days when he plays too often. Acerbi and Jonathan Tah both weigh much more than Scalvini (or Bastoni) does.

Don't get me wrong for one second, if we could get Scalvini in here I'd be thrilled. But CCB is the only spot we have available and you'd basically be asking someone between him, Basto, and Pavard to figure out a position that none of them have played.

On what basis do you think that has any chance of happening and what makes you think that's a good idea? (And what makes you think Inzaghi would entrust an unproven teenager?)
There were news that Real are in financial difficulties, and are ready to sell even Rodrigo or Vinicius, I think they would be suitable and the sale of Endrick. Endrick himself could follow the footsteps of R9, he is very talented. As for Inzaghi, he would use him 100%. Let's be honest, we won't see David, there's too much competition for him.

I've heard absolutely nothing of any of those sorts. Rodrygo is linked with a move away because his role in the team is perpetually being squeezed. Vinicius is linked only with a mega-transfer fee from Saudi, otherwise he's not going anywhere. I don't know what your sources are on these but those sound like nonsense to me.

Further, Madrid didn't spend the money they did on Endrick just to sell him one year later, and certainly not at some kind of loss. We'd pay more for Endrick than what it would take to get David, wages + bonuses + agents fees all included.

Scalvini would be more a replacement for Pavard as RCB and we of course don't know if he will come back to be the promising player he was after his bad injury. And you don't want to having to try and get players out of Atalanta at the moment - they are so strong financially that they will happily hold out for well above what a player is worth. Koopmeiners, Hojlund, Romero, Diallo, Castagne: all of these players went for really elevated prices.

In attack you do want an obvious hierarchy within the quartet of strikers so you do not have four who all expect to be first pick every week. Realistically you want three capable of competing for the two starting places and a fourth who is a decent back up. I really hoped a deal could be done for Gudmundsson as I thought he could be that third player, one who could bench either of the main pair and also offering something different in terms of style. Taremi would have been the fourth striker in my idealised set up. But now we have Taremi trying to be that third striker and not really cutting it, no proper fourth choice option and a main pair who are out of form but have no real competition for their places.

For all the travails of the defence this season I fear our ambitions will be more restricted by the limitations of our attack.

Gudmundsson has barely played at Fiorentina due to injuries so he looks more like a bullet dodged than a missed opportunity.

He has been quite unfortunate so far with injuries, yes, but does have 3 goals in the 200 minutes of football he has played.

Inter and Juventus battling it out for Jonathan David: latest updates

As reported by Tuttosh1t, the agent of the Canada international told sporting directors Piero Ausilio and Cristiano Giuntoli that they’d need to offer a wage of around €6m per season plus a lucrative signing bonus and commission to sign the player.

However, both clubs are trying to play their cards right to get an edge in the race for the striker – on one side, Inter are leveraging his compatriot Tajon Buchanan to put pressure on their transfer target, while Juventus hope that his close relationship with Timothy Weah can also make a difference, persuading him to choose the Bianconeri.

David has seven goals from 11 Ligue 1 matches this term, in addition to scoring four nets in as many Champions League games
Liverpool is the latest club linked to Thuram.

Go all in on David.

Why is this controversial?
Cause people was bitching about Lautaro allegedly talking with Barcelona years ago and now they want to replace our loyal captain with a guy who will probably left for Barcelona at first opportunity. You can't make this shit up.

Lautaro wanted to play for Barca in 2020 too, it doesn't matter. At the end of the day money talks.

If we dish 6m net and e.g. 15m bonus at David he drives himself here tomorrow lol. They are all professionals after all.

Club was ready to sell him and had talks with Barcelona, it was mutual. COVID stopped it all since Barcelona didn't have money anymore.

Barcelona did not have anywhere close to the money it would have taken to sign Martinez at the time. They had committed to signing Francisco Trincao and had bought Martin Braithwaite as an emergency measure - the summer of 2000 was the one in which they did the infamous Pjanic / Arthur swap to make their books look better.

This was the start of their ongoing practice of associating themselves with signing a multitude of expensive stars to keep their idiot socios happy and ensure season ticket sales, only for these 'rumours' or 'negotiations' to go nowhere and just leave an unsettled player.

Not sure why anyone should think that Lautaro is unsellable after what is close to an entire calendar year in which he has been out of form.
