Corriere della Sera says we've already met with David's agent, who demanded a commission fee in the double digits and a 5 year contract at 6m a year. This would be too much for Oaktree.

Yeah I don't know man, that would be a fuckload of money for essentially a third choice. But then I'm always banging on about fostering good competition in the team so who knows.
In terms of wages, David wants a deal worth around €60 million gross in total over the duration of his contract.

Then there would be the matter of around €20 million in total between a sign-on bonus for David and agent commissions.

That`s around Thuram`s release clause, hence the speculation...

20m signing bonus so it means 40m for 5 years gross salary => 4m net pa?
Not too expensive for a player with David quality. Sign him asap.

Doesn't make any sense to compare these two numbers.

That 60M gross salary is divided over 5 years, aswell as any comissions/signing bonuses. With players the key is the annual cost of the player (annual fee/commissions amortization value + gross salary).

Better comparison is that Correa + Arnautovic total cost to the club annually is over 20M. That comes off our books next summer, so David added there with his possible 15M annual cost (he's not gonna get 20M total commission+signing on bonus) is actually going to lower the costs there for us in terms of the forwards.

It would be net lower, but it would use up a lot of the overhead we would be creating that couldn't then be applied elsewhere in the squad. It would put him around the same annual cost to employ as Lautaro and well ahead of Thuram.

🚨 Inter have joined the race to sign Mo Salah as a free agent and are prepared to offload Marko Arnautović, Mehdi Taremi and Joaquin Correa to make room in the salary budget.

If we get this guy next three years in Seria A will be like walking in park. But, shitty owner will block this.

Bullshit rumour.

He will be 33 and is a winger, which we dont use and his salary would be astronomical.

Higher chance he goes to Inter Miami than Inter Milan.

You are right, but that does open up the possibility of us signing Messi…

Lautaro is more expensive and Thuram is lower because of the Growth Decree. We need good 3rd striker to rotate properly with the starters. Good striker costs money, one way or another.

Absolutely on the competitive third striker who we hoped Taremi could be, but doesn't look like he will.

It's been an enduring issue since Conte took over and the squad composition changed to have four strikers. The first season Sanchez and Esposito were a huge drop off from Lautaro and Lukaku and this did not change in the title season with Sanchez and Pinamonti. 2021-22 should have been an improvement of sorts with Sanchez pushed down to fourth and Dzeko and Correa theoretically competing for the second spot alongside Lautaru, but ultimately we were just dependant on Dzeko.

2022-23 again looked a step forward on paper with Lukaku coming back, but he was absent for much of the season, Correa was still Correa and it was the Lautaro / Dzeko partnership again. No different last season: we gained a competitive forward in Thuram but Arnautovic and Sanchez offered little and meant we could only rely upon the Frenchman and Lautaro. Let's not get into the jetsam and flotsam of this season's back ups.

It's odd that the recruitment has generally been very good over the past 6 seasons and yet they've never quite managed to sort out the attack in a way that can serve us usefully over a long season and doesn't overwork certain key players.

amount of money wasted on garbage 3-6th strikers is hilarious for us. Just bring the youth kids back and let them fight for that spot and stop dropping 10m in salary for over th hill players who aren't worth it.

I mean obviously go for the top free agents and go hey you will actually play here if you deserve to. Everyone wants Real but your ass is not benching any of their starters.

Sanchez had some moments off the bench for sure, but even back in the Conte seasons he was not a reliable starter. We need a third striker who could compete to be a starter.

Now we have kind of a clean slate since we have over 20M costs released from striker department next summer. Whether that's used for 4th and 5th striker or just 4th remains to be seen.

From Jonathan David to downright fodder. As expected.
