I’m pretty sure Donnaruma would take a pay cut to come back to Italy.

The financial burden to land Donnarumma is too heavy. We do not only have to pay hefty fee for his signing fee and wage, but also the loss on Martinez's sale. I doubt any club intend to buy Martinez on the higher price than we paid to Genoa for he barely plays throughout the season. Keeping him as a sub is also a waste since we have already expended a lot for him.
Martinez is a good goalkeeper from what he have seen. Letting him and Sommer to compete for the starter spot for the next season sounds like a good plan rather than spending our entire mercato budget on one goalkeeper.

Tbh, any rumors involving Inter to Donnarumma move would mean the free agent move in 2026. Sommer stays for one more year and then there's the free spot for Donnarumma, not before.

I think it's just too expensive, specially given if they force him to move this summer if he doesn't extend. Meaning it's fee + big salary.

Someone has to buy him for that to happen. And afford his demands. Does he even want to play abroad?

And let's see who needs a GK.

Barcelona will get ter-Stegen back, so not an option.

Bayern can afford him but I doubt he wants to move to Germany. And Neuer is staying, so it's not ideal.

Real Madrid probably won't replace Courtois, and I doubt Xabi Alonso would want a GK that's not readily able to play well with his feet.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are not options.

Manchester United, if they win the Europa League, might consider going for him, but they'd still need to get rid of Onana. Will PSG accept him as part of the deal It's likely with Luis Enrique. But not so sure if he wants to move to England.

Juventus is not an option.

Napoli won't break the bank to bring him back home. I'm not sure if they're going to renew Meret or not, lost track of that episode.

Milan has Maignan and won't break the bank to bring back a player they labelled as a money grabber.

He wouldn't move to an Arab league. Or the MLS. At least I suspect he wouldn't.

It's very likely that he'll end up here. And tbh, I want him here in 2026. Mostly because we cannot afford to have him as a rival. Unless some other prodigy appears and we can swoop in. Donnarumma has 8-10 quality years ahead of him.

MLS or Arab League will be a big mistake as a destination if Donnarumma still wants to World Cup 2026 for Italian NT.

Liverpool have no need to buy a keeper, they have Alisson, Kelleher and Mamarhashvili for next season. Kelleher will probably leave because he wants to play, but Alisson is still one of the best goalies in the world, and even if they do sell him then Mamarhashvili will be starting for them.

None are better and Alisson isn’t a top gk

Alisson is a better keeper than Donnarumma, the only things he has over Alisson is stopping pens and his age. Either way, the point I'm making is that they are well covered in that position so don't need him.
Horrible take. Just stop 🛑.

I'm not trying to knock Donnarumma, he is an excellent keeper, but Alisson is better.
Alisson is not better by any means. He's a better fit for Liverpool, but as a GK he's inferior to Donnarumma in pretty much every single thing.

He's only better at being an 11th player, which matters a lot to Liverpool.

I cant believe people are saying no to Donnarumma.

He is probably a top 3 keeper in the world - And if we can sign him up on a Bosman deal that is just good business. That is a position sorted for a decade, think of Buffon for Juve.

It what allows teams to build a dynasty. I am all in for Donnarumma to become a Interisti! Its the games when it will be on the knife edge that players like him win cups.

Nothing against Sommer but he will be finishing up soon, so it makes perfect sense to me.

If we signed him on a 9m salary, there isn't much room for salary growth, so we wouldn't be set for the next decade, cause we'd lose him on a free at the end of the first contract, or sell him a year before that point.

I'm not saying we shouldn't sign him cause of that, but I just don't see us signing him and then keeping him until the end of his useful years.

While Donnarumma would be more expensive annually than 9m salary alone (even assuming he would accept that drop to return to Italy), by the time you add in agents fees etc, even if that takes you to 12 or 13m then you have to put that in context of what the typical cost to employ senior players are. Remembers Arnautovich has cost us 10 this season and Correa 15, so in that context it's not a crazy cost.

Of course you might not want to tie so much up in a keeper but that's a separate discussion anyway. The thing about Donnarumma is his potential market is smaller than his ability because he is more a traditional keeper. So if Man City replaced Ederson they would be unlikely to be interested in him because of this for example.

Should we go for De Gea instead? He seems like a perfect match for us
