No clue about him but I’m willing to give him a shot. Is he more of a Asllani or Frattesi replacement?

Oaktree are interested in buying someone cheap, and selling him later for a hefty profit. This young project is just an excuse for not spending
Remember all the, Marotta will have more spending power under Oaktree” shit from the summer?:einstein:

Ricci is available for 25 million, we can't feck up this chance to sign him.
Just watch...

Heh, no i mean if Torino try and turn it into a bidding war, Beppe will step back and look elsewhere.
Can see Milan over-spending on him for sure.

Not the same position, he’s more like Frattesi
Yeh i know he's not a DM but he can cover the midfield positions.

He most closely resembles Barella to me out of our current midfield. This doesn’t address our biggest need, which is a true heir/ backup to Hakan. We’re absolutely not getting that from Asllani; even his most ardent defenders know deep down he isn’t filling Hakan’s shoes. The guy will only ever get the job done against the likes of Lecce and Verona.

Still, a great player is always welcome. He seems like he has the skill set to succeed in Inzaghi ball, much more so than Frattesi anyway.

Would be nice to get Ricci but we have no serious ambition under these clowns. I dont think Asslani is their long term replacement but I anticipate him staying here and they're comfortable with him being the undisputed starter every time Hakan breaks down.

Who would even agree to play 1000 minutes in the season and be backup to Hakan?

I think he would feature more than 1000 minutes

but that's me talking out of my ass

also I'm sure we would sell Hakan if Ricci came - maybe not straight away, but I think we would

I'm pretty sure people will throw Ricci under the bus, as soon as he doesn't live to the hype. He's just another youngster whom needs to be given plenty of time and effort. He looks like a more "ready" player than Asllani, but grass is always greener at the other side. Had Asllani remained at Empoli for a longer period and played consistently, he would likely develope further and improve his game significantly, given how he's well matured beyond his years.

Hakan's backup should be someone whom has experience and can cope with the pressure of the club as Inter. I'm not sure Ricci is the proper solution either. If the club is about to replace Asllani with someone else, at least bring an experienced player (someone who is okay with being a backup).

I still think Inter should part ways with Asllani. The latter is just not good enough as of now, and Inter can't give him more time. He's been around for a while now, and hasn't really made a significant progression since his arrival. I don't blame Asllani either, because at his age, it's not easy to succeed in a club like Inter, especially how delicate regista role is, and how impatient Italian clubs are with youngsters. It is what it is.

Replacing Asllani is should be also economic profitable for Inter. It's pointless to sell him for like 20-25mln and buy Ricci for 40, because there is a real chance for him to turn in another Asllani.
If we sell both Asllani and Frattesi for like 60mln in total, we can replace them with Ricci and Paz for example for the same money more or less.
Maybe it's worth the risk to do something like that.

Ricci had to get sold to Torino for Asllani to get any playing time at Empoli. He was already a better player two years ago.

Most likely there will be no purchases in the summer in the midfield, our money problems have not gone anywhere and the strategy is to reduce the wage bill. Sommer, Acerbi, Darmian and Mkhitaryan have contracts until 2026, which means that next year they will 100% still play an important role in the team. But still it's time to think for the summer transfer campaign of 2026, that's why I think Frattesi will be sold this summer to prepare financially for the departure of veterans and solving the problem with the central defender, and the obvious replacement for Frattesi is Petar Sucic. So this summer will be most likely bought in defense Jaka Bijol, and Tomás Palacios will go on loan, in midfield will come only Petar Sučić instead of Frattesi, in attack will probably still come Santiago Castro in the deal will be used Pio Esposito. In summer 2026 either Josep Martínez or Filip Stankovic will be used in the deal to replace Sommer, Tomás Palacios will be used to replace Acerbi, Tajon Buchanan will be used to replace Darmian, Valentín Carboni will be used to replace Mkhitaryan.

I would not see a conflict in the DM role if Ricci was brought in. Even if they were rotating then that would be plenty of game time for both and were Ricci to settle in immediately and show form that demanded being a regular, Hakan can still play as a number 8 after all.

Bear in mind the way the accounting costs work even if Oaktree simply aim for a break-even policy. If Frattesi is sold for 30m euros then Inter will record a gain of 12m on him (he cost 31m on a 6 year deal, this can be amortised over 5 years max so 6m euros a year and he's been there for two). It's also 5m euros off the wage bill, so 17m euros to play with.

Let's imagine they bring in Ricci at 30m and Paz at 25m, similar lengthy contracts and with wages of 4m and 3m. Ricci would thus have an annual cost to the club of 10m and Paz of 8m = 18m. So for Year One at least you could bring in two good (we hope) replacements for one non-functioning one without increasing your squad cost. Of course that changes from year two onwards, but you have hopefully good younger players now who can improve and themselves be a good potential future asset.
