Kovačić would be ideal to replace Mhiki, but it wont happen, Atletico wants him.

I'm still annoyed that Thohir sold him to Madrid.

But let's be realistic, he's not coming back.
It's not just a financial issue; it's also a policy decision.

I get that you are a Croat but they are not even close in playstyle. Kova would be a regista in our setup and I wouldn’t want that either. Can’t you be happy we’re signing Sucic 😃
Kova played Mhiki role in NT like a boss, I dont know what are you talking about. Faster in transition, better tehnician with a ball, and even better in defending. You are comparing Kova, who still plays many games for MCity with a guy who was finished in Arsenal 6,7 years ago? Kova would upgrade our midfield. Doesnt matter he is Croat or not, if there is one Croat player that I criticised more its him.

Having current Kova as your ideal Mkhitaryan replacement is really aiming lower than what is out there.

Going for Sučić, that's a better value for money for sure

I see Mkhitaryan as more of an attacking player. I never really liked Kova in a more advanced role, but agree to disagree. I think we can find a more natural fit for the position.

Inter have emerged as the favourites to sign Bayern Munich's utility midfielder Joshua Kimmich. (Fichajes - Spain)

Don't you worry that we have too many 30+ year olds in our midfield? We need a guy that will play together with Barella for years

I'd get Verratti on a Serie A rookie deal

Something like 3-4m and a vice-Hakan role.

Other teams like Milan or Juventus may offer him a starting spot and a higher salary, but we realistically offer the best chance for title contention on all fronts and even with enigma Oaktree as the new owners, a more stable environment.

I don't believe we have the budget or will to blow on de Bruyne or Kimmich (they're probably staying put anyway), but I do believe we're going to give Jonathan David a 4-5m deal and probably lock him as #3, so budget for a midfielder probably won't be very high, although based on logic we have a starting spot to offer next to Barella and Hakan. I don't think we're selling Hakan of course, but if we do, then that would make it two.

We have Sucic coming, an option on Fabbian and probably keeping the rest, so while the mercato may be wild, the midfield won't be part of it. But I think it should be the priority, as that's pretty much the only position we're going to need to replace a starter for sure in Mkhitaryan. Whereas De Vrij staying means that Acerbi leaving or being relegated to a bench option for the most part of the season would be a seamless transition, at least for 2025-26.

The option on Fabbian might be used to do a deal with Bologna on Beukema or Castro. My ideal restructuring is Asllani and Frattesi exiting and Ricci and Paz arriving. This pair, Miki (for one more year), Barella, Zielinski and Hakan make up the six with Sucic the extra man I think they are missing this season.
