If you are driven up to the wall whenever recalling Nainggolan and Eriksen deals now behold the combination of them both. Pirola is a talented defender. Once I read in The Athletic that some NT coaches/officials rate Pirola being better prospect than Bastoni. If that is really the case than we are dumber than donkey because the foul stench of Nainggolan-Zaniolo swap is still reeking at every Interisti's mind and we just struggle to offload this burden to Cagliari. Does inter want to repeat it again? Yes Inter will fcking do it again . And what's worse is Papu Gomez is doomed to fail at Conte's 3-5-2 formation and his loath to creative player. This is already a stupid deal tactical wise and financial wise and it is even worse if Pirola is sacrificed for this :palm:

Take it easy. That's just a name thrown there that Atalanta has asked Pirola in return for Gomez. Nothing more.

To be fair, I haven't seen Pirola's name thrown around at all other than FiF. The only youngster I've seen mentioned is Oristanio.

Corriere di Bergamo: Papu Gomez wants Inter to live near as possibile from Bergamo. Inter refused a Pirola swap and offers Gaetano Oristanio + probably some money to reach the 10M value that Gomez has.

Oristanio is a great prospect. Magical left foot and great technique. Making Oristanio - Gomez deal would be another Zaniolo - Nainggolan swap.

Definitely has potential to be one of those sort of deals. Of course there's no guarantees on how a kid will adapt to big boy football, but he has bigtime ability. I would also argue the same for Pirola.

Honestly if we can't work out a cash deal or swap for one of our out of favor players, I would kindly tell Atalanta thanks but no thanks.

Yeah everyone is zaniolo now :yao: there are many good young players we had that ended to be trash. I remember for example a brazilian guy called "Del Piero", basically the brazilian Del Piero. Or what about Longo, Bonazzoli, Bardi... not everyone is Zaniolo.

I get your point, but we should be more judicious with which youngsters we give up for past-their-best 30+ year olds.

The ones who actually display the natural talent to be top players at a young age should be handled carefully even if they don't pan out at the senior level.

Had Inter had money they would not have sold Zaniolo imo It's probably the same with these kids.

I assume it's more about preferences than them being cluless.

I am against selling young prospects until we try with loans and see what's gonna happen. Buy back clause at least is a must but explaining like this Oristanio must be new Diego, Messi or at least Recoba.

Agreed. Generally I think Inter have done well to earn plusvalenza from the academy. I have no issues with continuing with that policy, As you said, not everyone is Zaniolo.

Coz with Zaniolo, we knew. We knew he was one of the best players to come out of our academy in recent times, and you don't fuck with that. Even coaches outside of Inter were singing praises of Zaniolo. If I remember correctly, Zaniolo got a senior NT call up even before his Serie A debut with Roma or even Azzurini debut. Thats how highly he was rated even outside of Inter.

Zaniolo was possibly the biggest talent to come out of our academy in many years, and we knew that. Our youth coach Vecchi knew that. National team coach Mancini knew that. I wrote a post on this at that time too:

This one wasn't a surprise. Including Zaniolo was a fuck up by Inter. He wasn't the usual primavera talent, so lets not equate him with Pirola or Oristano.

Give them Ranocchia and a few bucks. They have no leverage at all.

If we tally up the number of highly rated youngsters we've had over the last 10 years (or longer) we could probably count the number of success stories on one hand. I mean how many are even playing in the top leagues? I still remember how hyped we were about Crisetig and Destro. Given this history and our clear inability to guage young talent i'm fairly comfortable giving away Pirola (if a buy-back option isn't viable).

And what's worse is Papu Gomez is doomed to fail at Conte's 3-5-2 formation and his loath to creative player.
Hazard, Fabregas, Pirlo? Not that I think Conte is a good judge of player but he requested Gomez, so why not?

What I dont understand though is didn't he fight with Gasperini over a tactical disagreement? Why would we want someone that would go against the coach's wish? I thought someone said conte deserves the 12m based on no drama in the dressing room situation alone?

They don't have leverage? Who has leverage? Atalanta can manage without Papu easily. I doubt his salary is too big, applies to everyone in Atalanta. They are making money selling their players for tens of millions, players who's never even played for them (Kulusevski) or played only few matches (Diallo). Atalanta can sit Gomez for the whole season if they want.

I'd say Inter have absolutely no leverage in this situation. Gomez has no leverage but Percassi might give Gomez a move to somewhere if the deal is fair for them. I doubt they lower the price considerably for Inter because we are so broke.

When you invest years in a youth player it is because you are expecting a sudden availability of a 30something player you kinda like. It is known.

Gasperini wanted to move him to the right which he refused to and stayed in the center.

Pretty much gonna replicate the same Eriksen situation again when we want to move him a couple of yards back to play mezzala.

?

I pretty much just explained how he got into an altercation with Gasperini in the first place. The guy clearly has his preference in what role he plays, and that role isn’t exactly aligned with what Conte plays.
