Also his crosses were bad. Maybe Inzaghi could give Bastoni a rest against Empoli, but who do you play? Palacios? Acerbi? Carlos Augusto?
Giuseppe Favalli should be available

He looked so tired for the last 10mins. I remember noticing how it looked he didn't want the ball that match there in the last 10mins or so, and at some point team mates kept passing to him a lot. :D

We need to try to groom Palacios fast, we need someone who can give us that pumping runs up and down other than this guy.

In this season we need to try to limit his minutes. We need him fresher when it matters the most.

Next to Raphinha, Wirtz and Salah mentioned as one of the best players in CL this season. Good to see him get his props.

Lately I have noticed that he became less brave offensively and it is really annoying. He keeps passing it backwards. Him and Dimarco need mentality recharge.

I don't know why in Inzaghi's system Bastoni is a CB, LB, LM, LW and whatever else.

He's stepping up, but it's bizarre that we're so dependent on a CB for chance creation.

He keeps other teams on their toes, because it's hard to predict his moves, so that's why he gets the space for all those crosses.

He's been overhitting crosses lately, let's hope he gets his touch back in time for Juventus.

He's been subbed out around the 60-minute mark recently. We all know his role is tiring, but maybe he just can't keep up the intensity for the full 90 minutes lately. Obviously, the fixture congestion rotation and Inzaghi's automatic sub for getting a yellow card are also factors.

Apparently Basto has only finished the game seven times so far this season, not sure about his km's coverage per game.

These guys need some serious conte fitness regime. Honestly, some fat guy in the UK ran 7 marathons in 7 days, yet a footballer can't run 13km a week without being destroyed? It's kinda insane.

What you just said is a scathing hot take.

Marathon is not a contact sport. While 7 marathons are impressive, just running in a line can never ever ever ever compare to a sport you play mostly with your legs. There is jumping, there is contact, there is quick changes in speed or direction. It's just not close enough to compare.

I'm sure our medical team know something and Inzaghi also knows we only really have Bastoni, Dimarco and Augusto for 2 places, Zalewski is still mostly an unknown entity. I'm okay with Bastoni being the one to play a bit less, he is everywhere on the pitch when he plays.

I mean, I get it, but my point is... this team is low on fitness. Like compare to peak Conte - we wouldnt have any of the exhaustion issues we have now. Those motherfuckers could have played 120 min of football twice a week no problem.

The dude that went back to Real Madrid, yeah, he's a fucking legend. We'll have to find somebody similar.

But also Inzaghi should change up his approach a bit, maybe not go all in for the whole of first half. You mentioned Mourinho not so long ago in a different thread, that's what he was doing.

even under was it Rui Faria with Mourinho? we had much better levels of fitness, and yeah, was it Antonio Pintus under Conte

if these motherfuckers cant run 60 minutes (and dont get me wrong, i realise its interval sprints rather than marathon running), they need some fucking Conte fitness sessions to get them up. Pro athletes should be embarrassed at not being able to play 2/3rds of a professional match with a week's gap between their games.

Half marathon twice a week until everyone has max 90 bpm at the end of a match and isnt gassed, I fucking guarantee within 4 weeks no one will be complaining of being tired.

Inzaghi is rotating and resting - whats the problem? He cant play the same team every game.
People complain he doesnt rotate enough/use enough subs then when he does they still complain!

Yeah, that's another thing we keep saying. The problem is that some players just don't click with the system and/or aren't good enough. This Inter with a better bench would believe they could beat anybody. We need glory hungry players.

I think @pier's stat from above, though, is kinda revealing. Bastoni has completed 7 games so far this whole season - thats kinda mental.

It's think also about the tactics. With Conte, Bastoni's role is mostly to defend, but with Simone, he's way more active in the attacking phase, as we know. His off-the-ball vertical run or underlap to open space is really good, but it can also be the most exhausting part as he has to quickly track down and cover or draw a technical foul,

I think a lot of us would like him to finish the game, because when he's taken out, we're in bad shape. Just look at when he was taken out against Fio, they scored twice. And recently, the match against Juve. He may didn't play his best recently, but he usually does very well. His gesture when he subbed also seems like he already knew it.

Hopefully Bastoni can get his fitness and form back soon, because we've got games every three days again soon.
