I’d be willing to try the experiment. It would be mostly tactics driven. If we want him to mark Mo Salah while we play a high line he’s going to get eaten alive. We would have to basically play a low block any time he was in that position. Honestly though I’m not sure it would be much better with Dimarco or Perisic.

Looks exposed as a LCB this year and that’s purely down to how compact we were last year vs this year. All of a sudden he looks slower and clumsier, but that’s because we’re asking him to defend open spaces against a speeding winger like Felipe Anderson.

I don’t really think his performances have changed much. It’s the tactics that have changed.

Yeah, I talked about this in Inzaghi thread. Our defenders are getting exposed because Inzaghi cannot play the exact same way as Conte did because Conte had Lukaku. We need to attack differently by pushing midfielders up which exposes our defence. Conte's defending kind of hid the deficiencies of our CBs.

And Bastoni specially is struggling to fit in. He's been too clumsy and slow and Inzaghi needs to find a way to get this shit working. But it's definitely not just one player like Bastoni.

You may be not even need to replace all of them, just one may be enough. Both Liverpool and City solved their defensive with just one player.

You could for example, sell de Vrij for around 50-60M and buy an elite and fast CB for around 20M more or maybe one that's not quite elite but it's young, fast and have the potential to reach that level for about the same as we sell de Vrij or probably even less.

Then we should be a lot less vulnerable to counters while playing a high-defensive line.

Hell, maybe they all just need some time to adapt to playing a high-line. Remember that not that long ago we thought Škriniar couldn't play as RCB in a 3-man defense.

Bastoni is not problem.
The problem is with a high defensive line we need a good DM like Casemiro or Kante to stop counter.

In our team only Vidal who can tackle, and maybe Brozo, but Brozo is our playmaker, so it doesn't efficient to make him our shield.

It had to be a tactic in the second half. We kept kicking it over to his side and he kept doing nothing with it. Poor passing from him. Going through a rough patch.

I'd switch him to the middle instead of LCB. I know de vrij is not quick by any means but Bastoni is getting shredded right now. If his confidence goes lower and our defense gets even worse good luck.

Passing ball back to Handanovic is a plan we've had for at least two years already. There's nothing bad in that when player does that as its instructed. Should direct those complains to Inzaghi.

Calm your tits everyone, this guy is only 22 years old. When hyped up Bonucci was the same age he played for f*ckin Pisa and Bari. Not much 22-years old players have a starting spot as a LCB at a topclub. He had a long summer with the EC and everyone expects a lot more from him, he will be back in form soon.
