Maybe the answer is that we, as a club, are awful at both scouting and signing players.But how many veterans have we signed that actually proved to be worthwhile? Didn't signing the likes of Rocchi, Forlan, Vidic, Palombo, Kolarov and etc, etc. provide enough evidence that it's risky too? Yes, I agree, relying on a primavera kid is risky as well, but it's a lot cheaper and you can always offload them easily with minimum effect on your budget
