Balo coutinho players our scouts spotted early but sadly did not work out....Its not that easy there are many factors to a player reaching that level.
Plus there is dimarco and bastoni who both are starters right now and most likely got spotted by our youth scouts. Then there is Bonucci and zaniolo who again were spotted early but did not work out here for reasons.
On top of this i think we are amongst the top teams in terms of former primavera players in serie a, which in itself would suggest our scouts aint that bad.

Again i think most fans underestimate just how hard scouting is and how much development happens between 16 and say 20 guy might be the best thing since Ronaldo at 16 and be nothing special at 18 with very little a scout can do about it. We have seen to many new "superstars" in serie A hat did not amount to anything special: Jovetic/Zarate/Balo/El sharaawy/schick/Icardi/ Bernardeschi... quite sure the list goes on and on these were players that at 18-20 seemed destined for greatness and they all turned out average at best.....

Bottom line there are a lot of factors in the development of a youth players that a scout cant determine. I d argue that we have to stop paying big bucks for youth such as with salcedo these deals just dont seem to work out even for other teams...
I m sure Monaco aint to happy they paid 20 mio for pelegri

just take a look at this list: https://onefootball.com/en/news/the-most-expensive-teenagers-of-all-time-37633320 I d argue more than half of them flopped and those were more established players than primavera guys so should have ben easier to judge now do all those teams have shit scouts?
People get blinded by the few who make it and somehow forget about all the other future stars as soon as they re playing at bologna or cagliary and the hype has died down.
Also there is always the occasional brozo a talented guy but who needs the right coach to find the right spot for him in order to let his talent shine and to get him under control....
People make this out to be an easy game but then bitch about very player that does not perform according to ther expectations for 3 games.
which is exactly why, imho, giving all but the VERY best a chance to develop on a slightly less pressure loan environment is the best move.

Also, even on the list you have there, thats next level big money - the real dead zone - as Inter saw with general transfers - is like 5-20mil - you're paying a premium because they showed a few good moments, but they've not done *such* a good job somewhere that they're 30-40mil+

Agreed sadly could not find a list with just academy players that moved for big bucks... Point was more to illustrate that even a lot of young kind of established players most of them were pros and starters when they got transfered yet i d argue the price was only worth it for less than half of em.

Hating with a passion the fact that all (available) numbers from 1-20 are not used. Yeah yeah ok boomer.

Surprised Pavard didn't take 5. Also weird not to see anyone taking 19 which had been a popular number since Cuchu.

doesn't help and 3 and 4 are retired

5 Not being used is a surprise. Either Pavard or Bastoni could have selected that. Or Bisseck for that matter.

#18 and #19 are the only other ones missing tbf.

The main issue I see is that Correa holds #11 and is still part of the team

Di Marzio: Fontanarosa is set to join Reggiana on loan despite a late attempt by Spezia to hijack the deal.

Ya would have liked Taremi to pick 18 or 19 for a traditional number for backup striker.

Bastoni should be our #5. If he would have worn that from when he joined the club we would have a chance of one day having 3, 4, and 5 retired.

If I'm not mistaken, I read that the reason Bastoni chose #95 is to honour his sister who went missing in 2015. I have no idea if this story is true.

We should have changed Correa's number to 73 or some other equally dickhead number just out of spite

I did some research

Apparently bastonis best friend, agnese, died in 2015

I couldn't find anything yet about a sister going missing though

Ah ok but that's unrelated to the 95. The 95 is:

Why does everyone mention Gagliardini when Sensi is the last one to wear #5? :D
