Still looks kinda out of shape, still dribbles into trouble, never had the best shot but he hesitated when he should struck the ball towards goal or pass it. Never can fault him for willingness to compete, he just can't do the things he did 4-5 years ago.

Sanchez was crucial for us in the first half. All the ball retrieving, trapping it and continuing the plays. Did it so many times.

He's obviously not at top form yet so indeed, give him some break.

Lol okay so I wasn't the only one. I thought he was the only one playing in the first half but so many people shat on him. His finishing was/is shit but his involvement was apparent in the first half.

Ok something I saw that I like today, overall still needs lots of improvements and adjustments, but there was a time he lost possession through dribbling and he hustled and gone through 3 players to get the ball back. This is crucial cause it avoids direct counter attack that goes straight to our CBs

He wasn't that bad apart from finishing.

Rewatched the match and he actually had a pretty good game. His finishing let him down a lot, but he was also involved in pretty much all of the good things we did in the first half.

Alexis' involvement in the game was never a problem, but he tends to complicate things like hell. That's not gonna work against opponents that aren't giving opportunities that easy. If he wants to be crucial for this team, he needs to play it simple and make these unnecessary touches as less as possible. I do think he's one of rare players in the league whom are able to unlock games even at the most difficult situation but he declined a lot, so he has to know his capacity of these days.

Just don't play Alexis against Real Sociedad from the start. I won't survive that.

He had a good first half but he lacks forcefulness. Likewise, we must not forget that it was his first start and he arrived at a cost of 0. Let's not expect him to win the games but he will undoubtedly contribute.

Physically he just can’t get away from challenges anymore. His explosiveness that made him so good in his prime is gone. He refuses to adapt his game, or maybe he just can’t. The only good thing about this deal is it’s 1 year.

This was a type of game we would have needed him to break the deadlock. Hopefully it gets better from here as we have a congested schedule coming up (or more like we are in it already at the moment).

Why did we bring him back is beyond me.

We didn't have other opportunities. Correa is far worse, and given how circumstances went, maybe it was worth gambling for it. So far he hasn't performed to expectations but there's still time to bounce back.

I'm not up to date with his situation, but word is that he had pre-season on his own. Let him adjust with the group and then we'll see. I do admit that he's poor atm, but at the same time I expect him to make difference, unlike Correa...
