I'm not one to completely dismiss social media behavior as irrelevant because most footballers communicate like 15 year olds.
On one hand, Alexis is mosdef known for incessantly posting cringy motivational garbage on his social media. All this shit about "being a lion" etc.
On the other hand, there does seem to be growing substance to rumors regarding his exit, or desire to leave.
I think it's extremely telling that he was perfectly willing to leave last January in exchange for Dzeko. That he would be willing to depart a team in the midst of a fierce title challenge in favor for Fonseca's disaster team, fiercely competing for 11th place, shows that for him, it's all about playing. I can respect that, and no doubt he's been a good professional and a valuable asset over the past two years.
That said, I don't know exactly what his fucken expectations are but surely, surely, he needs to realise:
- he's always fucking injured, or coming off an injury, or recovering from an injury
- he's not going to be a guaranteed starter for any big team in Europe right now
While I appreciate his input, I've never been comfortable with his exorbitant salary, nor the fact that we signed him for THREE years on that base considering his age and injury history. I would be very happy to depart from his wages. That said, I worry because I do not remotely trust Suning to provide adequate funding for an acceptable replacement.
On paper, Sanchez's role here has always been a second striker but he's much, much more of a playmaker - and god knows we lack any creative playmaking ability in the squad like
@Materazzi_23 lacks sex in his life.
We will never possess the Neymar's and Salah's of the world (obviously.) We are destitute, but also because there's no room for such players in a 352 squad. But if we replace Sanchez, we
need someone who can offer similar playmaking skills or at least a bit of flair or pace because I am deeply uncomfortable with losing what scarce creativity we have in this squad full of cavemen.
I like Raspadori, and he seems like the hot name, but he seems like a #9 to me.
