We can blame it on African mentality (which can only be compared to Balkan mentality ) but it isn't a good look for sure. It isn't Onana's job to decide who's gonna play.

I am not buying the Eto'o rumour though. They seem to have great relationship and they often talk highly of each other.

Yeah, by definition you tell what the coach demands. Team sports simply do not work in any other way.

Ofcourse thats what a true professional does and should do and onana obviously did not here.....
But context matters and this might be a grave mistake by onana or just a slight overreaction from both onana and song....

Side note in the one report i red from a camronian outlet they wrote that Etoo tried to intervened in order to not get onana sent home.......

Anyways i guess if this does not mess with onana s head it s a win for inter as we get him back earlier.

Doubt that Eto’o can do anything, Song has legend status and was leader in Eto’o’s days

Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has been told to "respect the rules" if he wants to return to the team during the World Cup, coach Rigobert Song says.

"Of course the goalkeeper position is an important one and he is an important player but we are in a difficult tournament and I know what I have to do and that is to ensure the team takes precedence over individuals," he told reporters. "For the time being I have asked him to wait - to see if is going to stay with us. I have asked him to respect the rules and maybe come back into the squad."

I don't care if he is our starting GK, he is absolutely on fault here. He is free to express his opinion and he is right that Song is an idiot who rather watches his NT lumbering without urgency. Ultimately he is wrong to challenge the authority of his coach who is the one in charge. Imagine if this happens at Inter when our coach instructs Onana to play conservatively but he does Kepa and insists his way. I am sure the fans will have a meltdown for the blatant unprofessionalism.

Cameroon coach had so much weed that he didn't know what was doing, and here you go, 3 goals against.

Onana is the culprit here. Had he done this shit with us, I would havet preferred Cordaz to start.

Song might be wrong, well, he is, but he's the coach.

All about respect and in terms of character, Onana has shown none.

Maybe Onana is just overreacting and pissed off by the coward performance and lack of urgency vs Switzerland, i can understand that, but you have to respect your coach even tough he was stupid as hell.
What an idiot couch btw, you can't tell Onana to change his style of play in the middle of tournament, this is not a youth academy, it's fuckin World Cup, you have 3 GK, if you think his style doesn't suit your needs you just bench him and play the other one, no need to be a santa claus for Onana and create a drama. Onana is Onana and he's been like that a sweaper keeper from the beginning of time, he can't change that, it's like telling Balotelli to stop doing something stupid, it won't work.

Not playing today due to disciplinary reasons. Shit what did he do?

‘THIS ISN’T AJAX’, WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WITH ONANA AND CAMEROON AT WORLD CUP
Andre Onana unexpectedly left the Cameroon camp at the World Cup in Qatar after coming to blows with coach Rigobert Song.

The 26-year-old Inter goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes of Cameroon’s opening clash against Switzerland, putting in a decent performance despite the 1-0 defeat. A notable part of his work in that game was his confidence on the ball; in the World Cup opener, Onana took 61 touches of the ball, 24 of which came outside his penalty area.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how things went wrong during a Cameroon training session on Saturday last week, when coach Song told Onana that “this is not Ajax”, clearly referring to his proactive play on the ball.

The Inter shot stopper was unimpressed by this and after a brief argument, told the Cameroon coach to let someone else play in his place. He then skipped the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Serbia, further widening the rift between player and coach.

Rumours from Cameroon suggest that Onana criticised teammate Nicolas Nkoulou in the team’s WhatsApp group, making it clear that he preferred other defenders who were capable of holding a high line and playing with the ball at their feet.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper has disputed this claim, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill. The president of the Cameroonian FA, Samuel Eto’o, attempted to mediate the situation before eventually informing Onana of his exclusion from the Serbia clash.

Song publicly stated that Onana could have continued at the World Cup should he change his attitude and ‘respect the rules’, but the Inter goalkeeper decided to cut his losses and left Qatar earlier today.
No nonsense Onana preferred to take a Holiday

Reminds me of rodman under Popovic and then under Phil Jackson. Sometimes it's on the coach to adapt to the players. Sometimes.

Nothing in this report sounds good and his instagram post makes it worse.

Well hopefully he does well with Inter but i still have my doubts we will see how he performs the 2nd half of the season.

We should play Handanovic instead. I am sure that would be our best option. 🙄
