Today is Ranocchia's birthday.
But I'd like to discuss this weird phenomenon I've seen develop over the last couple of years, as far back as I can remember, this was a player that was commonly accepted to be plain and simple bad, well at least nowhere near the level required to play for our Inter, let alone be captain (which is something I'll never understand).
And everyone knew it, hence he was almost sold numerous times and the closest we got to him leaving was at Hull, but even they didn't want to keep him.
Yet, as the team progressed and started winning more, he somehow became silently more and more accepted and is now being revered (at least by a sizable portion of fans) as to being this great figure of Interismo and dedication to the colours.
Which is not what I see at all, I see a mediocre player that for years has been clinging on to an exuberant contract that nowhere else would give him, just to remain at a higher level for longer period of time.
To me he will always be that failed wonderkid that somehow pulled off a miracle in managing to stay at team that he's way underqualified to be in.
I will most certainly celebrate the day he's gone and never plays for us again.
That being said I do hope he has a good birthday and scores the winner tonight. lol
