Tbh though the problem is most of our youth are nowhere near the level we would need. Even as rotation options I suspect Duncan benassi etc aren't up to standard. Biraghi or dimarco may be okay as bench options but beyond them... most of our youth end up as aerie B or amateur players. For people like pirola I would much rather they regularly started and got experience than ate bench ar Inter too, it makes it more likely for them to develop and succeed - the trick is trying to find the right club who will play them regularly.

Rano as backup to De Vrij for another season is more than fine. When travel reopens, he can have his nice retirement playing in Doha or the UAE. Forza Rano

We're basically the only top team in Europe that never ever ever plays their youth, it's ridiculous. Stop fucking wasting money on average players, quality over quantity.

Seriously even Real Madrid have the likes of Nacho Fernández, Carvajal, Odriozola, Valverde, Lucas Vázquez, etc., most of them aren't exactly world beaters but at least provide decent options for the bench, and then they can spend hundreds of millions on a few actual top players instead of buying millions of average players that end on the bench or worse loaned forever and never getting any interest from other teams.

What! Carvajal and Valverde are elite players. Extremely fucking good.

Odriozola has great talent but he's the classic victim of a lesser name playing in a packed position. (Says a lot that 4 of the 5 names you listed have played at right back for Real Madrid..)

RE: Vazquez and Nacho, I get your point. However, there's a certain level of tactical astuteness and more importantly, mental fortitude, required to be a backup at a Real Madrid who have been winning La Liga's and CL's in recent years. You're talking about the biggest club in the world. These guys have covered multiple roles at Madrid and have contributed to their successes.

Naturally, any player is going to be better when surrounded by better players and any player will suffer in a chaotic environment. Gagliardini would be a better player than he is now if he had trained at Real Madrid and learned to play a backup in their team - all the while winning trophies and being helped by elite players. Vazquez would be much worse if he'd joined crazy Inter in 2014 as a winger.

But I don't think it's fair to say "look at Vazquez and Nacho at Real Madrid" and suggest we can do something similar with Esposito or Pinamonti. And as I said, let's not even compare them with the Carvajal's and Valverde's.

As a rule of thumb if a player is over 23 and costs less than around €30M, he's probably not worth it.

Don't sign players over 27 years old, unless it's a massive opportunity like Young, Darmian, Eriksen and even Sánchez who while on massive wages came for free and despite his injuries contributed quite a lot for the Scudetto.

I don't disagree for a second that we've had a historically bad allocation of resources, but these blanket statements like are just wrong. You're telling me you'd prefer fucking Agoume to Veretout? Come on.

There are plenty of great bargains out there, like Darmian as you mention.

No more consultations with Kia Joorabchian. And while Conte has earned a lot of goodwill, hopefully his transfer requests can be moderated within reason. For example, IMO Conte can not possibly complain about Dimarco as a backup for next season and he should lose the idea of an Alonso or fucking Emerson. However, going into next season without upgrading on Pinamonti is unacceptable. That seems like a reasonable compromise.

So on the topic of Ranocchia, he should definitely stay. Expecting Pirola or some shithead to take his place is not viable.

According to Schira, Andrea Ranocchia will sign an extension with Inter till 2022.

Gazzetta.it: the Nerazzurri would offer ‘one plus one’ deals (a one-year deal with an option for a second), with their previous salaries spread across multiple seasons.

FCIN: The centre-back hoped for a two-year deal but will settle for a one-year extension, with his wages fixed at €1 million plus bonuses (he earned €1.5 million last season).

his agent is at the HQ to work on the renewal till 2022.

Schira - Done deal!

this is good news. Chep and solid sub. I have no problems with Rano playing 5-8 games a season in Serie A and most the coppa games.

Happy with this! Didn’t see a reason why we wouldn’t extend him. Solid enough that it doesn’t merit looking elsewhere.
