Boss. Shame he came to Inter in the worst possible period. Still more than good enough backup.

We are praising him because he did his job of backing up our starter, in two key matches of the season. We are not promoting him to a starting position ahead of De Vrij.

You want Rano back on the bench, so who comes in when De Vrij is out? I really don't get your argument here, if there is even one since no one has said Ranocchia should be a starter.
I think we carefully need to consider what constitutes a backup player. Ideally a backup should be competing with our first team players for a starting place. However, given our budgetary constraints, a back-up should become a high quality sub readily available to fill in at a moments notice versus ANY opponent. So for example, Vidal and Darmian (before Hakimi left) are what I consider backups, DiMarco for Perishit, and so on. What Ranocchia provides is an opportunity for DeFry to sit out 1 game (2 at most) BUT only versus low-end opposition. For a club of our level that is not good enough. Say what you want about Romangnoli but he was beasting in 2019. If he can drop his ludicrous wage demands (5M) i would scoop him up with quickness as a back up defender.

So were Cazorla Ilic Pereira(Leciester) Pjanic Alba Hazard (chelsea) Vardy in 2019, I feel we shouldn't be signing any player based on what they did 2 years ago, nearly 3.

But Ranocchia just backed up an injured De Vrij in our two most important matches of the season and we won both while Ranocchia had problems in ONE play in those two matches.

Never understodd why everyone is surprised with Rano performing in a three-man-defence. Never been a problem actually, even under Mazzarri he's been good in a three man defence. Same thing for Romagnoli, I'm fairly certain he'd thrive in a three man system.

Never saw wood to score such a beatiful goal. He was comical in defense, but that goal saved his ass.

Rano is becoming a Materazzi kind of figure. Half spiritual leader. Half mascot. Looked rusty in defence but what a massive goal today!

This is the kind of dressing room that could win you treble. You have players who will never give up and will step up when called upon. Grande capitano.
